It's new and should be around for a lot longer than Sougi was, depending on how well the oil sells. I'm anxious to try it in my line but waiting for service interval (not wasting my precious S6000 lol).

If anyone wants to give Syn-X 6000 a shot and can't get it from their local distributor/Autobarn, I can post by the box (4 bottles), which should be pretty cheap. Will start selling it on eBay anyway so keep an eye out on there. Mechanical workshops rave to me about using Syn-X 3000 (10w40) in all their customer cars, so if you want a good semi synth on a budget, you can always chuck that in.

i should try the syn-x 3000

i should try the syn-x 3000

its not bad, i use it in my stagea now

its usually pretty dark at 5000 kms like sougi was, but its so cheap that i don't feel bad changing it at 5000 kms

Will throw it in the Skyline over the next couple weeks. Wish the 5w was a 10w, what with summer and everything, but should still be fine (have read that 5w and 10w are negligible in difference and companies often market one as the other etc.). I assume it is a group 4 fully synthetic, given GW said they weren't doing anymore esters. If anyone wants to give it a go I should be able to supply for $55/bottle (plus postage or you can pick up) until further notice, which is still good value for a group 4 synthetic and cheaper than what Sougi 6000 used to cost. It's also an SN/CF, which is the latest specification in the oil industry.

55$ is a bit rich..

Birds can u tell me why this^^^ is any better than this which is only 40$ a bottle at any auto store??

It is a higher group oil I think. I'm not 100%

End of the day for what you are doing it probably isn't any better, but you will have the peace of mind of using a better oil.

Hi guys,

I just bought a R34 GTT RB25 NEO over the weekend and drove it up from Brisbane to Cairns.. in the storm :S

I want to get the car serviced, it was a 1700km drive & I want to look after this baby as much as i can :)

I live in Cairns, my vehicle is parked under my complex so we dont really get cold starts or anything here.

Can anyone recommend me a good engine oil? There is 126 pages in this thread, I started reading the 1st few pages then realised that was back in 2003.

This is just my daily driver, I do like to go fast ofcourse but I am not a racer & wont be putting it on a track.

Im hoping somone can lend me a hand.

Cheers,

Shaft

How much are you willing to spend on an oil change?

How much is standard? I mean I dont want to overspend on what is required.

I just wanted to get some ideas of what brand & mix to use. I think grade 3 is what im looking for, but the 10w 5w etc just goes over my head =/

Ok just did alot of reading up on this thread, and apologies for asking noob questions.

Sougi sounds pretty good from what I did read, the S 6000 is now off the market and the SYN-X 6000 is the replacement. I called the GW number and found auto 1 to be the local distributor. $49.95 for 5L

Will give this a run :)

My first oil change in my 33 I used Penrite HPR10. Not knowing about these forums, I had asked in Autobarn and that was what was recommended. Short story, but I did not like that oil. The oil pressure gauge stayed up high way longer before it would normalize to it's proper running setting. The car felt a tad sluggish and after awhile I could hear the lifters or something making noises in the engine. HPR10 is a 10w50 oil and on paper shuold be ok in an RB. My experience told it it wasn't. Once I dropped it and put in some Sougi S6000 the car never felt better. Still using the S6000 and I think have 3 bottles left now :).

Not all oil are the same, but different brands can't even get the same weights either. A 10w in Penrite felt like a 20-30w in another brand.

Birds that new Syn-X 6000 looks interesting. Not so happy about it being 5w though. I think it should have been a 10w40 oil as it's still going to be competing with the Royal Purple, Motul 8100 X-max 10w40 and the Chrono 300V. It's not a bad replacement for Sougi S6000 but it's annoying that yet another oil comes in a 5w40 only with no 10w40 option.

Yeah i got the hpr 10 in now..I've noticed my oil pressure stays a little high too, pretty much constantly on the 3/4 mark..only drops when idling..not sure if it feels sluggish cause I have 30kw extra now :P

I reckon it could handle some abuse but def not as nice as the motul it replaced..was half the price though and is SN rated..

But i reckon it could handle some a use and it was half the price and is SN rated...i can't comment on if it feels sluggish cause I gained 30kw the same time I put it in..sorry Rolls ;)
