If You Could... Porsche Or Gtr

Recommended Posts

For those who have never been to Tokyo, this is defintely a city for 911's. The ones who can afford them obsolutely love them and you can pretty much find them all day long.

A Porsche guy came into our office yesterday to pick up my bosses car for its 1st service informed us of something interesting. At his dealership alone, 5 of his customers traded in their 911 GT2's and GT3's for the new GTR. :/

After a few months, they all switched back. :/ When asked why, they said after you the thrill of the straightline accelaration and hype goes out, they prefer the Porsche which I can understand. He also mentioned that the new PDK transmissions are not that good.

Just thought I would share this with you guys.

Im sure thats what the Porsche owners are saying as well. Personally I have owned many Nissan models including GTR although not the 35 and would probably go 911 as well. I mean just look at that front end and the built is so much more better compared to the Nissan.

Reliability is the key. I think we all know that 911’s can take redline punishment day after day and year after year and they just laugh right back at you! The question is can the GT-R handle this same kind of punishment and perform just as well? Only time will tell!

well obviously they prefer the porsche... otherwise they wouldnt go back to it. But, why do they prefer the porsche?

Because Ive owned many Nissans including GTR, although not the 35 which I contemplated buying before getting my 6 series. Also I have easy access to the 35 here in Japan and my boss owns a Porsche.

The biggest 2 difference for me is the quality and at the end of the day knowing that its only a Nissan which anyone can buy. But thats is after living in Japan for 4 years. Unlike when I was in Australia, I see a GTR now and I dont even take much notice honestly. :D

    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
