Something twin charged, thats for sure. Looks like the turbo feeds into the supercharger, which looks like a factory unit, probs the one of the 4agze?? Or maybe they merge together, its hard to see.

Looks quite intricate though.

Im working on the merge collectors today and then onto the rest of the headers. I have holidays this week and I hope to get this part close to done this week!

Thats insane! Looks like it will rip some mean skids! Where is it located?

Here are the two merge collectors ready for vband rings, which I dont have yet...Anybody know of places that have 2.5" and 3" vband rings with clamps?

Got them expanded down the road at Macs Mufflers at Brendale! Did it while I waited which was good. Cost me $30.

Time to clean up the insides!

All the merge collectors I found that could be bought from an exhaust shop were not proper merge style ones. They were the old fashion way with pipes tacked together and a conical sheet rolled around it and then shaped around the pipes and welded up. I wanted to this bit properly and challenge myself....it did take the better part of today though. But it was my first go at doing this....surely thats a good enough excuse lol.

Good thing GCG has the vbands! Woot! Problem solved.

Actually I have done abit. I havent bothered with a proper update yet as I never got the exhaust finished. I have done the extractors and down to the 2 into 1 merge and left it at that for the moment. As of today I have the motor and gbox out and the bottom end stripped for inspection and a few mods and tweaks to be done before it all goes back together and then back in.

I didnt go into any detail in making the headers like I originally wanted. They are far from equal length and abit messy. It took ages to do and it was a pita. I couldnt make it equal length or close too like the UK guys did in their race car because I still have heater lines and wiring and other crap along the firewall and so had to place things differently. But as you will see from the pictures 1,2 and 3 go where they need too inorder to clear the intake and 4,5 and 6 basically go straight down into the collector. The other main hold up before coating is my egt sensor setup from america is being held in customs as it was over 1k :( I gotta fill out all the bullshit paper work and go pay the extra tax before I can collect. Once I get them I can weld in the fittings and paint the whole thing or maybe get it ceramic coated and then heat wrap it all and have it ready for installation.

The motor looked great when stripped down. I rebuilt it like 3-4 years ago and since then havent looked after it very well, gave it shit oil and hardly changed it. The oil that came out of it was quite black and burnt. Yet the bearings were damn near perfect apart from a few polished areas on some, but the majority were still with factory coating and discolouration. I was amazed as this car hasnt been treated very nicely when it was being used. Many burn outs and thrashings have been given over that time!

So I gotta do a few adjustments to the factory oil pump and then some new seals front and back, fit the twin plate, possibly modifying the std sump to hold a couple litres more oil, reassemble the bottom end and then chuck it in and finish off the exhaust and fuel system side and hopefully try and get it started! :D With any luck I wont have a million things to try and fix before it runs reliably.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
