NAH ! Just put my order through now through paypal. Precision CEA Billet 5558 0.63/T3/V-band plus two silicon joiners $1045 usd delivered to SYD. Wooooott ! ! ! Done! Hurrah.. lol

Were you sweating a little bit as you clicked that button, Ron? :P Lol just jokes mate, looking forward to results, good stuff on finally committing!

I was sweating like a pussy when I clicked that button Hanaldo, and Jase, ur welcome for a ride when done mate, but I'm not a errm..extremely safe/cautious driver..ask err Jez. lol.

lol well making the car even faster is not a good way to become a better driver IMHO.

i generally advise people to thrash the life out of something underpowered to improve their skill. i dont have any advice for you with a 5558 powered NEO :P

All the ones i have done have made big power on 22psi. Havent needed to go bigger boost as of yet

Will be tuning sr20 with 5558 external this week or next. Just running motor in

How did you go with that 5558 on the SR20? Ball bearing or journal? Do you have any further information relevant for SR20? (thanks in advance!)

I just bought a top mount T3 external set-up with 44mm tial gate but minus turbo and am trying to work out what turbo to go for (who isn't  ).

Currently makes around 270rwk out of a T2 3071 internal gate on 23psi with E85 and Tomei 260 cams, standard bottom end for now (Unigroup dyno) so I obviously want more than that, actually a lot more than that - ie ability to push to 350rwk later on. Unfortunately, it still has to retain reasonable response for a track car (very irregular street car) which makes it a bit trickier.

So far have narrowed it down to;

  • 5558 journal or ball (55 exducer, 58 inducer)
  • 5858 journal or ball (58 exducer, 58 inducer)
  • TD06SL2-20G 8cm (3" inlet, 52.5 exducer, 54.1 inducer - think it might be too small as most results seem to be around the 250-295 mark)
  • TD06SL2-25G 10cm (4" inlet, 60.5 exducer, 54.1 inducer)

It seems the 5558 will make the numbers but on high boost (not good for standard bottom end) and the 5858 will make it easier but will sacrifice some response in doing so (not good for turns 2, 9 at EC and fish hook and last corner at Wakefield ;) ).

Currently leaning towards the 5858 ball bearing but not sure about the response it will give.

jump on NS.com and have a look at DRE20's car, he has a 5858 and the dyno plot makes it look fantastic. very nice and broad powerband. Do this if you really want that 350kw 'down the track' setup.

FYI the TD06SL2 20G is a smaller turbo than what you have now and the TD06SL2 25G (T67) is more of a 6cyl oriented item.

If you simply buy a T3 .63 external gate housing for your current turbo and retune your car will improve everywhere. You should crack closer to 300kw and response will also improve. This is what I recommend you do.

If you want to sell your 3071, please PM me.

Yeah I never thought of that! I just put a brand new rear housing on it a year or so ago. But I think I will sell it.

Yeah I'm on NS and have seen the build. Scale is in speed so hard to tell but the graph does look good. Its also a large bore engine with 90mm pistons.

There's also Joels 5558 BB. Hard to tell what its like with the graph he has put up though.

NYTSKY: Is that not what Hi-Octane were running on their R34 at WTAC?

I think it was a 65, could be wrong.

The 32 had a 6262 on it and was absolutely flying. One of the better sounding cars there too.

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG is has not responded to my emails so far after purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
