What about pics of tool organisation?

I'm trying to come up with ideas of how best to setup my new tool shed.

Hang em all up? Put em in a tool drawer? What about bigger stuff? And the odd one off stuff/tools? How to store/ organise power tools?

there's a thread in the wasteland that has toolboxes and such.

I believe it's titled "show us your tools"

Or there abouts.

Cool tool? My latest buy from Snap On. Cordles 3/8 rachet. Best thing ever when im doing engine bits and pieces including gearboxes or a head.

Best thing i claim it all back on tax as im a licensed mechanic ;)

nice too man.....i wanted to buy this, but bought the milwaukee version instead coz i had batteries

But when you have some nice calipers, there's no point in marking them if you don't have to.

I have a set of Bluepoint ones, but they are a bit bulky. On a lot of the cars I work on the pistons are pushed out so far the tool barely fits in. But they're a definite time saver. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

to suit opposing piston callipers like skyline brembo and sumitomos, right? where and how much?

Used them on my D2s but yeah would be fine for brembos and sumis. Got it from Transquip, sale price 100, full price 160. Not cheap but pushing caliper pistons back is a pet hate of mine. US ebay has them for around 100 including delivery; here's the ebay search

Mate you will love those hose removing pliers,,,they are very handy.

Have you tried those caliper pliers yet,,,I was always going to make a set but if they fit inside a 4 piston sumitomo/brembo caliper I'll also buy one.

Cheers

Neil.

Those hose pliers are so cool and definitely one that makes getting the buggers off easier. Lost count of the number of times i have busted knuckles slipping the screwdriver trying to get old ones off.

As for the spreaders, i haven't tried them out yet.

I dont have the twins on the front anymore but if you like i can measure the size of the spreader for you so you can check it fits?

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
