Pity seats are so bloody expensive to ship,,,looks like they will be a local buy.

hey Neil, your steering wheel is not round. how do you expect to do sick drifting?

any progress this weekend?

Correct Duncan my new wheel is not round,,,did you what to drift Cheryl???.

No actual work on the car this weekend,,,Nice to have a rest,,,lots of researching work done though.

I can tell anybody that wants to know that buying roll cage foam out of the States at a good price isn't going to happen. Unless you want it sea freight(12 to 16 weeks). This was looking great,,,till we had a talk about shipping.

I've decided on an ECU for the moment,,,we are going power fc

Neil.

Picked this up tonight,,,I spent literally hours on the net looking for a good one,,,found one on e-bay that I liked only to be out-bid in the last 15 seconds,,,sucked in to whoever beat me,,,you paid to much money.

Hge disappointment,,,so I logged onto SAU and what was sitting in the "New Posts" another bloody PFC. Quick call and sold,,,nice bloke to boot with some really cool Staffie dogs and pups. He made 230 kilo's so it will have a good starting point.

This will do for a while as I really do want motec.

Innovative LM-1

With an LMA-3 Data Logging Kit...

PM me if you would like to make an offer. It's just sitting at my Dad's house. I'd say replace the O2 sensor with a new one, as O2 was always in the dump pipe, but unit was rarely connected...

Lemme know and I'll try bring it on Sunday.

Nice,,,but at this stage,,,a simple cheap system will do for the time being if I even bother. While it would be great,,,in my big picture using Motec will do everything I need after the engines are done. The entry level M84 at rrp of $2420 is great value I think.

Wow I want that ECU!

More pics are need though Neil!

Here you go mate,,,the price I posted was out of Auto Action last week.

Spent Saturday,,,researching again. I'm chasing a 2nd gearbox so I can run an after-market gear set. Bloody hell every bastard wants them,,,for SR powered cars and VL's. $1500 for a second hand un-known one is serious rubbish money,,,I'll keep looking but,,,I've just about decided that I have 2 options,,,ask in our wanted section for a crunchy one or look at importing a car.

Sunday,,,started at 8.30 and had to stop at 2.00pm,,,I'm getting way to old to put in a full day in this heat. I started with cleaning up again,,,it's so easy to make a mess. I decided I needed to start covering the holes left after the sound-deadening fun we had. I found 3 of the 4 big steel plugs and after removing 5mm of crap off them,,,I welded them in. I couldn't find the 4th one so we ventured down to Clark Rubber to buy some rubber grommets to block the firewall holes,,,floor holes and the hycass hole in the boot,,,or should I say I bent over and got raped. $40 buck for 13 grommets just isn't fair,,,What would they cost them,,,20 cents each. Anyway as Mel said on the way home,,,"You needed them so cop it on the chin my love".

    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
    • You have no idea how many goddamn boxes I received these past three months haha Most have been put to use by now though, luckily
    • Not going to pretend I didn't do a bit of junky work this time around, but mostly due to the fact that some things I am not willing to spend days fixing right now, like wiring. I try to do most things properly the first time around.
