Just a few pics of a test fit. The 7076 is compared to t04z in first pics, I cant believe how big the thing is! I have some more machining to do on manifold then i have to re-fab my dump, make a new s/s intercooler pipe. Put the poncams in, somehow fit the p/s res in there somewhere as the comp cover sits where it did now! then make a oil drain. Im going to use hydraulic hose onto the jic fittings with some fire sleeve over it (unless this is bad idea?) then re fit everything I dont have to molester for this to work, and make an impossible heat shield. Should be fun!

Beautiful looking turbo, Why can't Garrett make Vband compressor housings... Have fun with the fabrication. Take your time to smooth out the flow path, I want to see best possible results out of this one. :)

I plan too! I have to doctor my manifold too. Its a greddy one and i'v never seen such a shit job. No internal fusion at all, bits on the inside of the collector are coming off. Really need to fix that just got to work out how.

Be careful... If bits of shite are de-materializing inside the manifold its only going to lead to a busted EFR and no warranty.

I'd be twice as careful with trying to weld it.. And I'd seriously consider parting ways.

Awesome, very much looking forward to seeing how this comes out - EFR7670 on an RB25 was something I fully intended on doing a couple of years ago, and been hoping someone else would do it. Good luck!

Its just a bit of weld material where someone has welded cracks before thats kinda ugly. I dont plan on welding internally but ill remove any sus looking metal before i fit it back up. Not sure that any would come free but ill tidy it anyway. When this one gets beyond it ill fab a replica one up in 3mm wall s/s. till then ill give it a tidy. Anyone want pics of ugly bit?

I don't mean to take away from all this big numbers talk, but what are peoples opinions/thoughts on a 6258 on a RB20? I'm currently running a 2530, would the 6258 be similar in response/spool?

Don't take it as gospel, but I think 3rd is weaker than 4th in the SR boxes, due to the bearing locations? So it's not the best option, but hey, they going to break sometime!

Hi Geoff, thanks for the reply. I sent [email protected] an email about purchasing a 6258 and manifold etc to suit, but have yet to recieve a reply. What would be the best way to go about it? Could you moddify the exhaust housing in house prior to shipping, and could you make an internal gate manifold in a t3 configuration to suit?

sorry, we were away at SEMA. been getting caught up, Ill make sure you get a response on monday. In my opinion, the best way to use any of the EFR turbos is with a twinscroll manifold. The new "G housing" is 0.80 a/r twinscroll IWG B1 frame and available for 7163 first then 6758 and 6258. Of course if youre on a tight budget and wanted to use an off-the-shelf manifold, either t25 or t3 adaptors/flanges could be used or welded on to either side to make it all work

No worries. Interesting. So does the 'G' housing come in a t4 configuration? If so it could be matted to one of your 'off the shelf' twin scroll IWG manifolds?

Is there much difference in a .64 open and a.80 TS?

Hmmm im really liking the idea of an EFR on my evo 9. Kits are priced damn good compared to bolt on turbos too! :D What would you recommend for 300+kw with the best possible response Geoff?

I like this kit but is it possible to use a 7064 instead of the 7670 as my car is stock block 2L?

Page 8 has a pic of BWs mixed flow turbine unique to their EFR 7163 turbocharger . Its interesting to see a different perspective to forced induction particularly regarding the 7163 .

Earlier I found a thread on the Mazdaspeed site that had the comp map of the 7163 , interesting if you haven't seen it , very wide so a wide ranging unit overall .

Note the first post where the OP reckons according to Garrett the Indy EFRs don't use the lightweight turbines ?

I'm not sure if a 7064 tops out higher than a final spec 7163 , bigger housings ?

Whatever 60 lb/600 Hp potential is right up there for the frame size . Honeywell must be wondering what to do when this turbo arrives in volume , the OE market would be watching too .

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
