If that's at Aaron, don't worry, much like puberty he'll grow out of it :P

I know I certainly didn't want a wagon when I was in my early 20's, but now that 3000GT is just way too impractical.

yeh i'll grow out of it soon. I think once I start getting pulled over I'll be over it.. then Hi ho hi ho, back to a stag I go..

Do you leave it on the street?

That reminds me, I need to cancel my insurance. I insured mine for the first time last Friday so I'd be covered when in Sydney for the cruise on the weekend. It's understandable you'd be nervous, living in the "big smoke".

You drive around uninsured?? I'm not sure whether that's brave...or stupid...:whistling:

I don't have a lock up garage. It'll be in the driveway.

Third Part Fire and Theft?

Would work out a ton cheaper than comp one would think

Just got off the phone from Repco. Anyone interested in servicing their car with Motul 300v should stock up this weekend - they're doing 20% off.

I'll head down in the morning and grab some I think, give it a try!

Are u sure the motul range is included in the sale? I've been to a few repco sales and motion is always never included.

Its Bathurst. Supertaxi's are going round.

I wish there we some real competition out on the mountain. You know, a mix of cars, V8's / 6cyl turbos/ 4cyl emos and rexs/ GTRs and euros even.

This has got to the stage where they have flogged that old horse far to long. Don't get me wrong- the drivers are no doubt talented and courageous, but its like a one make series now.

Maybe we could get some exchange students from DTM, and send 1/2 the supertaxi fleet to Germany?

DTM cars are 10x hotter than Supertaxis. With the carbon fibre and the wings and *drool*

Rumour is Toyota, Honda, BMW and a fourth, unknown Japanese brand is coming on board. Nissan perhaps?

I would have thought Hyundai would have been more likely.

And I wouldn't have thought BMW would be interested. How's that going to work for their marketing if they get beaten by a Holden?

no way is any other brand going to put up $500k+ per car to enter the series.

If I was a marketing boffin for Toyota, thats exactly what I'd be doing.

Think about it, if you want to sell a car that competes head to head with Commonwhore and Falcon, compete with them on track in Australias most popular motor racing series.

People like Toyota (Aurion), Hyundai (Grandeur? That new 5L V8 RWD thing) could benefit from some brand credibility and some bogan popularity.

And its not like it would be expensive. A deal with an existing team could be struck, the cars will be mostly control anyway so changeover cost is negligible, and itd end up costing someone like Toyota or Hyundai a fraction of their yearly marketing budget.

Totally agree....I'll be backing the hyundi!!!!

Variaty is the spice of life.....keep saying this to my wife but it's falling on deaf ears! :(

Nobody feel sorry for Craig anymore, OK? After meeting you & your missus the other weekend, I don't believe a word of it, lol.

And yes, variety in motor racing would convince me to start watching again. Just one or two more manufacturers would make all the difference.

So true- however it has to be some real variety. Not the kind that we see now, where its just a badge stuck on the front. If they make Toyota/Hyundai/whoever run the same diff/box/brakes/susp then no ground has been achieved. Its just playing by rules that Current manufactures can control. Sort of like as a kid if you go to another kids house, and they only let you play with some of their toys, only when they want....ermm.gif

For example V8's Car of the Future / NASCARs differentiation by stickers.no.gif

meh there are plenty of series with variety out there, people just aren't watching them because all the marketing comes from cockrane's supertaxis, and all the audience and sponsors go straight there as a result.

Australian GT and National and NSW Production cars are 3 excellent examples of variety on the grid.

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
