The compressor map shows it's better everywhere... Where are the 3076R are only different up the higher boost end!

ok not identical, but not hugely different, the results from that subaru thread show a similar thing. Most the gains are to be had at high boost levels.

50lb/min pretty much all the way through the pressure range is fairly significant, considering that translates to around 50hp!

so is any one actually running any of the new GTX turbos,

inparticular the GTX35 on a 26?

Can pretty much get the whole kit for 3700 ... includes turbo, manifold, wastegate, water lines, gaskets etc, just need a dump pipe and intake

sounds alright to me

GTX3076R doesn't look like a big enough step to justify itself and the GT3076R is a little small for a 3litre, anyway :P

I'm not sold on the GTX turbos yet, and await the EFR7670 with interest...

Given you don't still have the stock turbo it seems that you aren't JUST after response, have you driven something with an RB30 in it yet?

haha touche! my setup as is makes me want more response... i'll be checking out al's car before i make a 100%

Haha I try ;) I think folks underestimate the things, RB30s tend to bring spool down 500rpmish which is what people mostly seem to pay attention to, but its worth remembering that the spool is on a bigger engine too - so even if you had a 500rpm laggier turbo on the RB30 it'd argueably *feel* as responsive as the more responsive turbo on the RB25, trick is its actually that much more responsive.

Terrible use of English, but might still make sense? I reckon I'd find a GT3076R annoying on an RB30 after having one on an RB25, and a GT2835 isn't THAT much different to a GT3076R really. For what its worth a twin scroll T04Z on an RB30 makes my car feel like a laggy sack.

Definitely experience it for yourself, but the difference between the two motors is much more than saying "half a litre" justifies.

I have read this post 3 times and my head hurts.

Why would you find a 3076 on an RB30 annoying? too linear and not enough of a hit?

I've encountered some results from a GTX3582R which I know the conservatives and such forth on here will potential throw toys at - don't shoot the messenger please. This is a "full retard" EVO running running 13:1 compression and race gas on around 30psi. Its stock displacement and clearly not set up for low down torque so much as going apesh1t:

Apesh1t achieved, the most generous that reading could be is crank hp which is still mental for a T3 flanged turbo which spools anywhere near that quick - laggy on a 2litre but an RB30 would make it perfectly useable.

I think that's a great result.

It still has a good 3k of usable power after the bullshit steep ramp. Though you wouldn't want to get caught below the boost threshold.

Dunno that it'd work too well on an rb30. Remember you have to keep the revs below 4k becasue it's only a truck engine.

Thats very, very impressive for 1bar and pump fuel.

And looking at the 500hp graph, it certainly shows there is much more left in it. Doesnt dive over at all.

Ill be doing a direct bolt off/on comparison between the GT35 and GTX35 in the coming months.

thats got to be predicted flywheel. the GTX35 flows about the same as a T04Z and thats not capable of 920@ the hubs.

Probably flywheel though usually it says it and you see a TCF field, but even then 920hp at the fw is taking nothing from it

You're trolling right? Either that or a retard? Truck engine? Don't go over 4k?

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
