Rpm is a roller speed ratio that i have to input rpm It matches the log from the Nistune. When i get back to the shop i will take a pic with roadspeed

Why do u ask?

I just prefer road speed. Some prefer rpm but i look at road speed as i takes into account diff and tyres so better real world result in my eyes

And those saying go 10cm on a 2L i think you may make a peak number easier, it may even be a few kws higher; but the net result is terrible vs an 8cm on a 2l. Sure the RB20 is different to an SR20 but the result will be the same....no mid range and about the.same top end. If you are worried about.combustion effeciency and back pressure but in a slightly bigger.turbine or better flowing turbine in the same housing size. Seems that will give a better ovrrall result then putting too big a housing on a 2L

Thank you.

Roy i will get it for u this arvo.

Thanks guys. Since I know have the 8cm we will give it a go and change to the 10cm if needed. Id like to keep the boost to a max of 20psi.

Scotty I'll be running a tial 38mm gate, unless I should go the 44mm? Havent bought one as yet. A mate Rex Kelway is making the high mount T3 external manifold for me in the next couple weeks.

stick with the 8cm like roy and i mentioned. Roy's explanantion is on the money.

Go the Tial 44mm, safe option and proven to work with the combo!

Ive thought a lot about getting a Kando with the T2 housing and hanging it off the housing. Could potentially work really well.

I just prefer to go bigger, housing and gate. Less restriction is always better but there is of course that lag penalty. I have never driven a 300kw 2L but I can imagine it would come on late.

Split it and buy a 40mm Vband gate, realistically they should all work fine.

It was making 270rwkw on 18psi on the old turbo set up. Full boost at 3800 and peak power at 7700rpm. Drives very nicely for a 4 banger, plenty of torque. Positive pressure from just under 2000rpm.

Ill give the 8cm a crack and maybe grab a 44 mm tial if I find one at a good price. Was thinking about a turbo smart 40 but they seem to be a heap dearer than a tial gate.

Here u go Roy, is this what u were expecting fc4a2eb7.jpg

Thats helps loads. Thanks. I am assuiming ts on 98? Is VCT on? A friend wants my TD06-20G when i take it off in a few weeks and trying to find some results to show him to give him a reliable feel for what he will be able to get out of it

Yes this has VTC on and is tuned on 98 octane fuel.

So I was on ebay and had a weak moment...

...Poncams should arrive later this week :)

Glad i am not the only one that did that :P

But the price!!! So cheap!!! Hard to say no.......

256/8.5mm or 260/9.15mm???

This will be real interesting. Just remind me, do you currently have cam gears? Do a run before the cams go in and tune to get the latest and greatest run for reference. Or not....if its going to cost dollars or agro

Would be awesome to see the before and after difference... I've been searching and there is no real back to back comparisons i can find.....

I think the Type B 260's are the best for a Kando yeah? (I am only learning as i go and from what i have read they are best for Mid-large turbos??)

R33 RB25 only come in 256 8.5mm, I think you will find the 260 9.15mm are for the NEO solid lifter head.

I currently have an exhaust cam gear retarded 4deg, I'm under the assumption that with poncams 0 on both sides is the best so will most likely set and forget.

We have the before runs because nothing has really changed since the last tune, unfortunately it wont be a direct comparison because I'm also going from Nistune to Vipec (AFM to MAP) at the same time.

Hoping for a extra power everywhere above 4000rpm and maybe a tad extra down low :)

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
