Haven't quite decided which thread it would suit better, but getting one of these into a Kando housing suitable for a Skyline would be pretty interesting - the FP Red in a TD06H T3 housing could be a crap load of fun, full TD06H 25G power with much better response thanks to the 76HTA compressor.

It's an interesting power than the smallest turbine wheel FP use on their DSM turbos is the TD06, they don't touch the SL2...

I have long wondered about the use of an FP DSM item in a Kando housing.

I contacted FP many times asking for a T3 variant but they refused. Told me to build a custom manifold. I also quizzed them on the origins of their 67mm wheel and if it was a TD06H, they denied using a H wheel and would only tell me that it was a 'wheel of their own'.

Quite a PITA if you ask me but I do not doubt that a Kando housing could be made to suit without much effort. Someone SHOULD try it on some sort of 2.5L....... COUGH ARTZ

Don't hold me to this, but I am pretty sure most of their turbos are just off the shelf turbines and they hide the combos - I believe the 65mm turbines are TD06, and the 67mm ones are the TD06H, and that even means the BB core versions (I had discussed with Rob whether it was possible to make a BB core twin SL2/68HTA type beast for a nut case lowmount RB26 twin setup and he indicated if someone were willing to pay....)

The original famed FP Green was just a TD06 with a Garrett 50-trim T04E compressor, a lot of their combos come down to doing excellent turbine to compressor matches as opposed to reinventing the entire wheel - which is a worthy cause if the result is greater than the sum of the parts.

The FP Green HTA in a Kando TD06 T3 externally gated housing, if I am correct - would be a relatively inexpensive weapon for the performance it could offer, which we know the compressor for is capable of 350-400wkw on E85.

LOL, I have one but with the 73HTA compressor. Is a good thing. Tad more responsive than the 20G depsite being 5mm bigger on the compressor and the turbine is a much later model thing with the same basic dimensions as the TD06 65mm turbine but different qty of blades and rake etc.

The L2 turbine simply doesnt have the torque to turn the higher flowing compressors which is why they typically dont touch them. I dont get the fuss over the L2 turbine. I sold mine as numerous L2 setups tuned by the same tuner on the same dyno as my plain TD06-20G got the same result give or take a few kws...if anything mine always pipped the L2s ?!?!?! Maybe on higher flowing setups rather than ashmatic RB20.

If only I can get 10cm housing for it as the 8cm was alight swtich on full boost at something like 3200rpm but nothing over 6,000rpm...and the 12cm made it way too laggy. 10cm is right in the sweet spot...but hard to come across cheaply

Kando 10cm T3 housing is $200 delivered.

Send it to Stao and $150 later it will suit your 73HTA unit.

Sortof, yes - except the 68HTAs will outflow and generously out-response the 20Gs, hell even the 73HTAs out response the 20Gs... as Roy mentioned earlier.

On an RB30 a pair of 68HTA-SL2s would be ruthless. Well twin 20Gs would be too, but you are getting into "BIG turbo" territory

What would be interesting is the TD05-20g with the 9 blade rear wheel and that 68mm billet compressor :)

You know that wheel is well different to the 68HTA? On that note however, the billet 16G or 18G themselves are pretty potent. Will ponder on how worthwhile a change from a GT-RS they would be, however.

How hard would it be to fit the 68hta wheels to the TD06 if one got the non billet type pair ?

How would the the billet 18g wheel comparing to the 71mm GT wheel of the GT-RS, or even fit the 68hta wheel to the TD05, with the bigger exhaust wheel should let the exhaust side breath out better, even more so for the TD06

What's the difference between 16-18-20g wheels ?

XKALABA just be awares that I have known 2 people so far to have poor results from TD06SL2 T25 IWG housings, and have known none to be successful.

The housings work FINE for TD05H application as proven by a few of us, however I personally ONLY have negative results for the same housing used with a TD06SL2 core.

    • I'll just leave this with, holy shit, those cars at work are awesome, and this will look wicked!
    • Could you modify this duct so instead it pushes the extra air through the radiator too and not down and out? For temps, I know it's not the greatest idea, but as a bit of a last resort, you could use a very intermittent misting spray onto the front of the coolers/rad. You don't want to be soaking them such that water is dripping off, but a small most on/off so that the water evaporates. That point of it constantly evaporating, rather than being soaked in water, will pull a LOT of heat out of the cooler. I'm literally thinking just the little mist sprayers for a garden from Bunnings. Being in a low humidity climate it will help even more! The other trick if you want to be ghetto is some shade cloth hung in the opening, and keep it wet. Pretty much now it's acting like an evap cooler on a house, but cooling the air you need to use to cool the radiator...   On a topic to think about too though, when air enters through the bumper, is it all nicely ducted from the edges of that opening back at a nice angle, or is it like most cars, and the edge of the opening just stops, and suddenly it's wayyy wider behind that? If it does the later, get it shrouded out at nice angles. When that opening changes too rapidly, it can actually cause a high pressure zone between the front bar and radiator, and limit air flow into that area, which means less air for cooling, as it effectively stalls the air, AND adds to drag...

    • It doesn't look like there's a lot of options out there these days, and what's out there is performance oriented aftermarket stuff (with the GTR markup) I wonder if there are other cars with similar springs, after all its just a matter of length, diameter and stiffness. Alternatively, I did see coil spacers. Probably not the best option, but could be serviceable too.
