Getting very serious now mate, I think it's probably fair to say our builds are no longer very similar

Seriously, lookin farkin amazing!

Haha yeah well we may have got a tad carried away BUT I'm not touching the fuel system again, I've attended 2 SAU events and both have been embarrassing due to a shortcut from the start, the time came to let JEM work their magic and make the thing tough as nails....

The balancer was just bad luck, but hey more black parts to add to the build and another impressive name to add to the list....

Many people are asking if it will run more power now with the fuel system, I am pretty certain the answer is NO as its tuned safe, as much as I'd love that 500rwhp figure the turbo just won't do it I don't think....

I'll just be happy to drive it hard for once on full power for more than half a lap.... :)

What causes damage to the balancer?

Just age man! Its rubber and my car has done 145k or something like that..... So i wont be replacing it again anytime soon :D

Oh total secks, fapping at fuel setup & balancer....

do you still retain the A/C as well with that balancer?

Yeah everything is retained! Its like a stock replacement, only prettier! :D

ooh yezz... mabs I do the same hahaa..I was thinking of using a R34 Neo balancer on my R33 hahaahha.... don't want to shatter oil pumps and kapow motor

You wont when you see the price of them :O

Mine's done 170,000 might need to look at it then.

Surely you would go for one Balls and All tune to crack 500rwhp then back it off a touch.

Oh and as some may have noticed, the bonnet is freshly painted but does not yet have the lip back on as i havent had the time.......

You may want to run some allthread through the top and bottom flanges of the oil cooler to make sure its core is compressed/supported. When at temp if the thing just hangs from the top they can start to delaminate and damage the core. They need to be fully supported, especally if they are getting hit and banging around on a circuit.

  • 2 weeks later...

New 25 balancers are about $300

Thats not too bad, for NEO as well?

Yeah wouldnt hurt to have a quick look!

Nope, pretty sure the turbo is maxed, not worth the risk for a number i guess.... As much as id love to have it

What a nugget!!! :-P

Cant wait to cruise mate... its been a while!

Lol you clown ;) Hurry up and get the "Coz Racecar Evo" ready...

Thanks Roy, Appreciate the input... Ill see what i can do, maybe ill try incorporate a support when i work out the ducting etc....

    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
    • Hi, i’m converted my r34 4dr auto to manual but need help with gearbox wiring. There are bunch of wires no idea which one for speedo drive, neutral, reverse can anyone help me. IMG_6860.mov
