When it was ready to come home for final prep prior to the panel shop we found the trailer no longer suited the car, so took to it with an angle grinder... Keen eyes will notice the front bar and spare wheel on the trailer are now missing to get the thing to fit on... We will re-assess the trailer situation once its all complete!

This brings us up to date with the current progress, things are all happening VERY fast now and the car is taking shape... In the next few weeks you will likely see images of the finished product, after those the car will be re-wired, suspension modified and aligned and then its time to test...

Unloading is not so fun anymore -

Had a look and realised most of the photos from the Brakes, bodywork, underbody etc are not on this PC... But here are a couple of the brake setup from my old phone...

So the kit is the Alcon 365mm Motorsport kit from Brakes Direct, not to be confused with the street spec kits they advertise, the calliper and pads are completely different -

Ditched the old backing plates to make them fit, will run a brake ducting setup later -

And the finished product all fitted and bled -

The newer pics will be put on FB, but ill keep this build thread for the technical aspects and DIY images etc...

Any questions, advice or just general discussion can be kept here too! If it benefits other members then its a bonus!

My god - this beast looks amazing!!

Well done mate.

Thanks mate, really looking forward to the next few weeks as the car evolves!

Mocking up panels was one thing, but seeing them being moulded to the car and taking shape is SO much better!

Man good job in that interior there. Ill have to do that at some point and im not looking forward to it.

The amount of hours grinding away body glue and crap is amazing, i spent ages on it!

Its going to look good once done, i guess nobody will appreciate the man hours involved until they attempt it themselves, i know i didnt lol

HMM call me sherlock.

What colour you painting it?

Just the original white...

Call me Mr Original... lol

I plan on keeping the whole car looking plain as a GTT/R should look.

I will be keeping stickers/logos to a minimum, however the companies that have supported me so far will also have a say in this.

Apart from the roll cage..... And all the body work.... :nyaanyaa:

Since it's full stripped you should put the GTR driveline in it... Just sayin.

I just had my dad remove the sound deadning out of mine as a little project. I think it took about 18hrs spread across 3 days of -5c. Not looking forward to rubbing it back. Yours looks way nicer inside and will look mint with a fresh coat of paint!!

I would have just built a GTR if i wanted that, i wanted RWD and something a little different...

I love driving the rwd GTT but also always preferred the GTR look... So figured why not have both!

It is not a nice job!

I found the glue was the worst part, i guess as they know it will be covered in carpet etc that they just dont car what it looks like but they managed to get it everywhere and it is really stubborn when you try to remove it! I went through quite a few wire wheels...

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
