4k manual TT will be a piece of shit IMO. Been a while since I looked at zeds but the manual TT always held their value pretty well; I'd be shelling out ~10k for a decent one.

As for the pay side of it, a 3rd year apprentice on an EBA job makes more than a domestic A grade, so unless you own the business or you're doing work on the side, there's no comparison in the pays.

My mate is 3rd year and on $40 an hour....

Reminds me of Ruffels... mother f**ker is rolling in it

It must be cheap cos the engine is still in

Yeh I did start about a month or so ago, don't get me wrong I'm definately seeing results just want that little bit more, I guess I gotta work that little bit harder and eat that little bit better / more. Guess there is no tricks for speed other than that or roids as Alex said :P but then you get shrinkage amirite?

Just eat lots and work out really.

Or drink lots of milk if you can't stomach the food.

Where's he working? Big company or got his own business?

Seems to have a few cars/bikes/boats...

He's with an agency (Frontline)... 4th year atm I believe, but he's EBA/commercial so as you said the money is off the chain.

Yeah too many toys for his own good lol

If global economic climate doesn't improve I think these unions will have priced themselves out of jobs my mates who run the major sites are not getting any work laying kents off left right n centre it costs to much to build in Victoria sure u get the odd cash cow west gate / desal plant when it's good it's good but I had mates on west gate before that no work for 6 odd months was doing handy man shit to keep busy and earning

And before anyone has a cry, I'm not paying out on domestic, just saying there's more to it than those that want to learn more and those who want more money...

In the end of the day, it's worthwhile if you enjoy the job.

For me, I'm not picky as I desperately want to leave Coles so anything better than domestic is a bonus.

lol if you're an A grade with your own business running domestic and making less then commercial/industrial then there's something seriously wrong with your business

I know of domestic A graders making on average $10K+ a week clean in hand ;)

$10K a week. Sheittt...

Do they all drive Fezza's and Lambos too?

lol the engine bays all been resprayed, not worth the asking price imo.

I wouldn't pay 15k for ANY commodore, let alone one that's 23 years old... but it's a fair way better than all the lebo spec thrashers out there

I dunno...Safety (employee and environment) is a big thing these days...The little guys aren't gonna get the big jobs because they aren't up to the standards the big builders demand...

I did say 'unless you own the business'...

when it comes to timing belt time? =(

Yeah :/ replacing all the external belts wasn't too bad with the radiator out though.

Quick look at Carsales says you're probably right. It'd still be alright to thrash about in till it went bang though.

    • So I'll put filler past the repair area a bit to make sure I don't miss anything. Then I'll block it until it's almost level, put the guidecoat, then keep blocking until it's gone. Then it's still wavy.  In regards to hitting the panel, I saw this video might give more context - Skip to 0:47 he knocks it down. But yeah I'm sanding until the guidecoat is gone then checking because otherwise my filler is still well above the bodyline. Unless what you're saying is I should put guidecoat around it early, surrounding the filler then stip once it's gone?
    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.

    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
