wouldn't the bigger brakes/grippier tires be more helpful then :P nah i said i might go for 600 coz i'm only occasional gona ride it for short distances, and cbf selling/buying

You'd think so but most bikes don't have ABS or traction control and most bike tyres are closer to slicks than wet tyres, therefore the wider the tyre the worse it actually makes you in the wet should you start to plane.

Just do the 250 mayne it's really not as bad as it sounds. I agree with dezz we won't lose sleep over it but sure wouldn't be nice to hear about you having a stack or anything. Gotta slow down these motorcycle statistics cause they are pretty scary ATM.

you be nice!

Leigh what kinda bike you got?

I got a suzuki gsx650f its like a gsxr but bit more upright seat positioning not a "super sport" just a "sport" bike.

Got fender eliminator now as well. (this one is non lams)

edit - found a pic with eliminator on:

only cost me 7k (2008 model) and its decent enough for how often i ride, they have about 10 less KW than a GSXR 600, but weighs a little more. I saved like 5KG taking off the ridiculous exhaust though. and just if you dont believe me here it is:

feels like you riding with a big dildo strapped to the side of the bike

Oh very nice Leigh! Lol that stock muffler looks massive! But yeah I like the "super sport" look better. Also dont wana spend 7k on a first bike :/ does look mint though!

Borci - as above, might aswell go for a naked ducati monster which is also LAMS spec

Birds - interesting

man how long you going for?!

go Germany in late September and ill meet up with you for Oktoberfest! :P

I went 2 years ago and I'm dieing to go back :D

the UK not so much.. =/

Agreed, was at Oktoberfest last September. One of the greatest experiences of my life. Had a German chick put her hands down my lederhosen in a random attempt to grab a handful of cock and balls, drank 9 liters of beer a day and ate a shitload of chicken. Win.

Pending Visa application (should be approved), will be there for hopefully 2 years as working holidays assuming I haven't ran out of money before then.

Was advised to head over Germany for oktoberfest... So yeah...

If I had my chance again I wouldn't have bothered with the working visa. Getting a job in the uk is almost impossible to start with, and when you do, you'll be lucky to be making $10 AUD an hour. Just giving you my own personal experience :) The economy in the UK is f**kED.

Actually... that's not completely true.

If you're planing then the width of your tyre won't make a difference.

Before you plane the contact patch difference is insignificant between something like a 160 to a 190 tyre. The main factors you should be thinking about is suspension, quality of tyre, pressures and of course the riding.

How wide is the rear tyre on them Leigh?

160

Yeah, I know the economy over there is f**ked, not looking to get rich over there, just want to explore the world while I've the chance...

So when most 250cc bikes come with a 130 at their widest? Significant difference between that and a 190...

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
