Car is booked in for repairs via Just Car Insurance....

Tuesday I'm going to go drop it off and talk to an assessor..

Am I able to talk to the assessor and get additional quotes from the repairers who bid on it, to get a rust bubble in the door and my sideskirt repainted at the same time? (Which I'd have to pay extra for obviously)

Any other advice before I let my baby go to them for a few days?

Set the PFC Rev limitor to 4000rpm so they can't thrash even if they wanted to?

I'm pretty sure they are the same as AAMI with the repairs.

and when the winning bidder is selected you get informed of them so are free to contact them.

other advise..move to shannons and get choice of repairers..

Yeah I think I might do that now that I'm older and can afford a decent company...

I dropped into see Mick at Micolor the other day on my way past since he's near my work... He said "Insurance? HA!!! No chance I could get that job"

I'm just really worried about how bad it'll turn out if they do a cheap job while trying to colour match 15yo white. :( My paint is in decent nick, but well... colour matching white. urgh...

JustcarInsurance has a list of assessors/repairers, they called me and let me pick which one to use. I just picked the closes one to my house for easier transportation, you pretty much deal with the assessor which is the owner of the repair workshop in my case. How easy going the workshop is dependent.... You don't actually deal with an assessor directly from JustcarInsurance, just a workshop which is contracted to justcarinsurance.

That's from my experience, could be different though.

They asked me where my home postcode was, where I said 3133 - Vermont... and she said the name of an Assessment center near there... so I said can you try my work 3192 - Cheltenham and she said that their place near there is in Moorabin / Heatherton. Comes up on google maps at a AAMI place, who is Just Car Insurances parent company.

They've said a few times that I don't have choice of repairer, and that I'd give them my car and they've get a few of their local repairers in to quote on the job throughout the day and then they'd go with the best quote.

I'll make sure that I'm informed of the repairer so that I can get them to do some additional work for me before the respraying... rubbing back and sealing a tiny rust spot which has spread a little under the paint (in the same panel as the door dent... but not caused by the accident)

Nothing wrong with Just Car repairers mate. They have a reputation to uphold, just like any other panel beater. Remember that you have the option to challenge repairs if you're not satisfied. They will also let you choose an alternative repairer as long as the cost difference is reasonable, which can be challenged in VCAT.

One of the panel beaters I saw for a quote told me they can't legally make you go with a repairer, in the end the choice is yours (as long as it's reasonable, not MiColour 10k resprays). The assessor actually wanted me to go with my repairer cause he was a bit cheaper than the Just Cars one.

I ended up going with the Just Cars repairer because it sounded like they were going to do a better job. Mine came back with perfect match (metallic silver) and looking very straight.

Yeah, I've made a not at fault claim on their recommendation, $0 Excess, and they'll repair my car and then chase Allianz for payment later on.

t fault Camry driver has already made a claim for her car, and I have her claim number which I've passed onto JCI to smooth out the process.

Saves weeks of f'ing around and waiting to be called back etc...

Sorry you are getting shafted there mate. If it is not your fault you are entitled to get it repaired wherever you want, paid for by Allianz.

Tell justcars to eat it, call up the bitch who hit you and ask for a claim number from her insurance.

Take her claim number to panel beater who will sort everything out for you. It's how I did it with mine with Mick...

What Pat said^

That's what confused me; you talking about having to go with a Just Car repairer when it wasn't your fault. You don't even have to deal with Just Car in this situation if you have the woman's claim number; you can deal directly with Allianz and have them pay for your shit.

In this situstion you can get it repaired anywhere...but again...within reason, as her insurance company has the option to challenge an excessive quote in VCAT. Doubt they'd kick up over a couple grand worth of damage, though.

Social engineering brah. Working the system for the little guys

Anyone need a pair of rear tyres? KU31 in 265/35/18 with ~60% tread (could be more, there's plenty of life left in them). Decent tyres; just couldn't hold 2nd in my car, so running an R compound now. Would grip up fine with anything 200rwkw or less. $200 each new, so $150 for the pair sounds fair IMO.

This. Don't know why you're getting Just Cars to do the repair. Any proper panelbeater can just use your claim number to do the work directly.

Test fitted air tank in the golfenwagen last night. I can stealth it if I fabricate a side moulding that sits 1.5" further in, and I can also retain my spare wheel and boot space. Awww shiiiiiet.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
