Closest thing I've got to a full bay shot... Considering doing a few more things in black as well...

Needs more colour.

Why tyres have to cost so much for.

I want re002's but can only afford ku31 + wheel allignment at traction

Please explain in detail how you could possibly need more than KU31's in an n/a civic

Props to byp for building an awesome car. But byp are a bunch of fkn faggots

But really, all they did was copy a build from the USA, put in a good driver. And volia.

Hondas are real big in the usa, that kind of potential in a honda isn't anything surprising in the usa. Just australia is a decade behind.

They really dont deserve to be the benchmark for honda track cars in aus

Hi all,

This thread is a long time coming…

But from recent events and my own personal dealings with this business and many others who I have spoken to as a result of my own experiences with BYP Racing I have decided to create this thread in the hope that those who have had a ‘bad’ experience with BYP to come forward, so that the proper authorities can deal with them. I know that there are a lot of you out there, it’s time to bring this information to light. So please PM me if you wish.

The plan here is the collect info and collate to pass it across to Fair trading for them to seriously look at this business and it’s practices. Logic here is multiple complaints or cases put forward will be hard for them to ignore and will force them to closely look into this business.

I have spoken to Fair Trading a number of times now and these are my findings;

-Fair Trading runs a search against the ABN/Business Name. The workshop is licensed along with 2 other license.
HOWEVER, the license is only via the business entity. Please note this does not cover the people who are working on your cars, in this case Benny/Jimmy Tran. Even though the business is ‘licensed’ it is still a requirement for the people working on your car to be properly licensed!
From my personal experiences and observations Benny and Jimmy Tran are not licensed mechanics, nor do they employ a licensed mechanic. They are simply backyarders working under the façade of a ‘workshop’. In some ways this is fraudulent behavior.

I sincerely hope that this thread does not turn into a complete debacle, as I would like to keep it as informative & constructive as possible. If this thread becomes a complete mess I will have the thread locked and ask for those who wish to discuss their individual matters PM me.

Regards

I got ripped off by them too

theres more to that list, but yeh, you get the idea.

One of my friends had a shitty tune by them (btw. Their "tune" is a 2hr half assed job where they dont know what theyre doing. taking maps from similar spec engines in the usa, upload, play around with random stuff and hope for the best. if they can't find a way to get gains, they'll blame something on the car as the problem, many first hand experiences in that thread which has this going on)

Well mate had a tune from them. Cel light started flashing indicating knock. Took car to them and said to fix. The "knocking" was gone. Other friend had checked the map and found out they just unchecked the cel light knock indicator. Paid 200 for that.

I dont get it. They even rip off their own brother and mates.

Oh btw, their $1000+ 2 hour tune is a WOT tune only. No cold starts no partial throttle.

They got lawyered on selling fake hondatas (ecu) as real ones by hondata usa. Strong losses.

Annoying thing is that a lot of their current and new customers are stupid. "Oh byp have the fastest honda in aus, they're the best, blah blah blah, and even when they realise they got ripped or whatever, byp would make up bs and they'd believe it. Bloody fanboys

The owner of the red eg civic that represented byp at sau nats. Heres the owners post and why he left.

ey guys Im the owner of that red civic posted above and Ive kept fairly quiet about leaving BYP as I didnt want to make a huge fuss about it.
Ive known the twins for several years and we were mates along with SXC-84K and NA-118 (dinners, outings, coffee etc) and thank god we are no longer associating with BYP.
Ive always felt that they took advantage of our friendship as they felt as though they could do whatever they like to my car assuming I would pay for it.
Countless times I have walked into their shop with new items on my car even without my consent.
Another incident occurred when I popped by the shop to check up on the car before Honda Nationals 2011 and found the car strapped to the dyno and retuned on race e85 when I specifically said that just wanted to keep it on pump. (yes I stupidly paid for that retune)
Their quality of work is just appalling as shown on my car as the twins cut a hole right through my door and didnt attempt to fix it. The mechanism that locks and unlocks the door was also damaged and never fixed.
The digital dash was also damaged as the twins, while installing it ran the screwdriver into the screen. Something of which I found out myself as I noticed a huge deadspot on the cluster.
Ive asked countless times to secure the lexan windows onto the doors as they have either flown off onto the track several times (obviously a huge hazard while at racing speeds) but they would never come around to doing it.
While Brandons integra was going through a rebuild my car was used to promote their business and I just assumed that they would look after me as my car was consistantly on the track rewriting records.
But that wasnt the case. Brandon and I had Tabs which we slowly pay off to BYP as we are still young and cant afford to fork out big dollars at a time. I purchased a k20 gearbox with the gearX close ratio set off Brandon for $5000 which was deducted from his bill and then added onto mine. When I double checked my bill I noticed that $5250 was added instead of $5000 which made me wonder what that extra 250 was for as labour to fit the box was also charged seperately. It was a direct transaction between Brandon and I yet BYP had to make a cut from it somehow.
The most recent incident that occured was when I damaged my splitter and a new one was made before the 2012 WTAC and BYP again tried to rip me off as they attempted to charge 400+ for the piece of plywood!!
Makes me wonder if thats my sponsored price I wonder what they would charge a regular customer.
I also wasnt informed about many of the sponsors and at one point I was charged for Nulon oil (a company the car was sponsored by)
There are many more stories but it just angers me to even think about it.
Im not surprised by all the stories that have come out and Im sure theres many more unhappy customers that have yet to post their stories as well.
Hopefully the moderators dont close this thread down as the truth needs to come out!!

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
