I'm new to the whole buying a car thing (basically got the thirty-one I have now off a friend of my Mum's for practically nothing). What do you wastelanders think I should pay for a 4-door and 2-door NA 34? They seem to start at around 8500 and I don't want to pay over 10000 if I can avoid it.

Don't bother with n/a 34.

Just play around with the 31 or chuck a LS1 in said 31. Could spend it on other useful things like booze or travelling etc.

Nah, the 31 is nearly dead. Keeps losing power and I don't know why. I have a feeling that it wasn't too well looked after before I had it, but you can never know these things.

The beauty of a 31, replacement motor is $100, couple of mates and few slabs will solve that.

Or just need a decent service with new plugs, leads etc?

Yeah 31's are cheap and easy.

Tbh you'd be better off buying an NA 33 than a 34 price wise. Apart from the styling and wheelbase they're much of muchness. The 33 has better build quality too.

What the f**k?

Spend that 10k on things I've mentioned (not all of it).

Or leave the money in your bank and buy a turbo skyline when you're off your P's (which I assume you're after one cos you're on your P's).

keep the 31. we can help you diagnose. or #@Miguelone can help with diagnosis, i will just sit back and drink beer.

It's a buyer's market and the fact these cars cost more than their turbo equivalents says they are ridiculously and artificially inflated in value by the P plater laws. Just because they are listed for that doesn't mean they are selling for that. Make offers and be patient / organise a back up plan for your ailing 31. The worst thing you can do is rush into buying a car because of impatience, or be forced to find one quickly because of need.

Thanks for the advice, it's appreciated as it's all new to me. I have a grand put away to service the 31 should I not be able to get a 34 quickly. Just got my rego renewal on the 31 today anyway.

Any of you ordered from Just Jap lately? How long is their shipping time atm? Need something urgently..

They went on leave over Xmas for a month, but they're back now and sent out my simulator withing a day

wait a second.... is kris that dude that is always getting bagged on here...?

also, am I the only person who prefers the R34 s1 or s2 stock bumber over the altima kit (or whatever its called)

It started life as a shot, so in that form 1/3 each works well. Soho first, then milk...gives a fluffy/curdled texture. Then baileys (or Kahlua if you prefer a coffee taste) on top will give the "dirty" looking part. Hence the name Dirty Nappy.

As a sipping drink I would adjust the ratios in favour of more milk. And don't serve it to Asians.

Dirty Nappy CSB:

At one of our SAU Vic Mt Bulla cruises, we were playing drinking games of jenga (undefeated champion right here). We needed a shot for the losers and I mixed some random shit together. It came out looking like a dirty nappy, thus the name. Problem is, people actually liked it...so now I make it on the regular at parties :)

Still need to try Malibu and milk. I enjoy milk based alcoholic beverages muchly.

OMG QUIT WITH THE GIRLY-MAN DRINK FAGGOTRY!

I personally prefer the R33 kit, or the R32 kit (34's look shit)

If auto, I think you'd be able to grab one for =< 10K, relatively easily? Gl with the search!

Inflated prices for NA or not, it is what it is. Whether it's worth it for you is for you to decide.

Edit: Leroy I'd take S1 or Altia over S2.

    • I don't think the shuffle can damage the turbos. It only happens at low shaft speeds and loads. It's just annoying (to some people - others are tickled by the effect) and it quite possibly reduces spool performance a little bit.
    • Oh dear. The panel beating needs to be done before the filler work. Do you have a photo of the dent before you started? Hard enough to not flex and only hit the high spots?  What do you mean it was just temporary?
    • Can u check this way it works for power supply?

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
