I remember years ago standing in Chapel St, overhearing some wogboy talk about his VL turbo...no shit, I heard the words "stage 4 blow off valve" come out of his mouth

Yo, where my Jerrycans at?

I got home with the fuel guage sitting right on E, and 1/2 a jerry in reserve. Perfect.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to get them back to you.

We filled my car Friday night and it got home on just over half a tank so pretty happy with that.

whos doing wtac this year?

Me, attending not racing.

Does it make the noise in all except 4th or in all gears?

With the clutch in / clutch out?

Can't remember to be honest, pretty sure it's all gears.

Clutch out.

Damn, I think I went through about 45L getting home :/ Cruising off boost (but I guess the intake leak would have made it richer than normal)... However, it used over 40L for 240km on the way up as well.

40 / 2.4 = 16.6L/100k (mostly off boost, but a few little squirts)

No rush on the Jerries, won't need them all for a while (until the next long distance track).

Where do you live again? I'm in Vermont, work in Cheltenham

Mine wasn't too much different then, probably around 40L for 220km.

I'm on the other side, Altona Meadows/Maidstone so not a quick trip.

I'll organise to get them to you at the next meet hopefully or sort something else out.

Clutch out.

If all gears and does it when sitting there in neutral with the clutch out, could be input shaft / throw out bearing or yes, spigot.

If it does it in neutral, find out if the sound changes (louder, higher pitch) as you rev the engine...if so, then it's most likely the above. If it doesn't do it in neutral and the sound doesn't change with engine rpm then it will be output shaft or a diff.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
