I'm not saying it's not a nice looking car, just that there's nothing really done to it that make it look any different from the other 3 million S2 R33's around, apart from the wheels, which aren't included.

The thought of buying a skyline sometimes crosses my mind... If I was to go down that path instead of something much pricier like M3/AMG/35 GTR etc, it would more than likely turn out to be quite an animal..

But alas, I think those days are behind me

Agreed, though the numbers are diminishing. I'm seeing less and less 33s these days. Ain't what it used to be. Maybe that's cause eastern suburbs cops have drowned them out.

Thought I was getting past Skylines myself, but a look around at everything new and second hand and couldn't see anything that was much better or fun for the money...went and bought a second one lol

I also look at everyone who goes and buys a sensible car or euro...they seem to wanna come back

Are you all like brothers and stuff?

Yes

Same here I think. Much to Adam's dismay

Haven't seen a neat 33 in a long time which is why it caught my eye. Most of those 3 million are f**ked or horribly modified

If I went for another skyline I think it'd have to be a 34GTR... But knowing it'd be highly modified and stand out aesthetically, means I'd more than likely get raped by the po po and I can't be f**ked with all that EPA/RWC constantly...

Buy one, if it happens do the swap to stock and sell it...not much to lose. At least it won't depreciate like the euro you're considering

Haven't been EPA'd for nearly 3 years myself and I live in the heart of Knox now

The cop cars do watch me closely though

thats why i sold my 33gtr.. wasn't even anything special just epa / pulled over all the time 'cos skyline' & constantly shitting yourself that you'll get done whenever you go past 4000rpm

would be awesome to own a 34GTR and openly mod it without worries (and actually drive it).. sadly that isn't the case.

Am paranoid in the pulsar even though it does blend in (not so much now with carbon bonnet.

The Gloria is still a pit to pour money in, but covers all the bases it doesn't. I still worry about cops, but all I have to do now is wind down the front windows

not anymore

now you get a 45 or 90 day permit and you just fill in the logbog each day you drive.

other than that all good.

but rules to get club rego much harder now full RWC and VASS certs.

and they can un roadworthy you and EPA you now as well.

Until you get an "M" plate, then the HWP knows that you're modified and will target you anyway...

P.S. Bring back my Jerry Cans, got a track day tomorrow...

Lucky I got in early. Ah yeah shit. Do you need em tomorrow? I don't really have an easy way to get them to you tonight.

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
