If anybody has a set of any of these can you please help me out with the following:

Brand: G4

Piston QTY: 8

Rotor Size: 330x32 mm

Piston Diameters: putting track pads this weekend for Wakie on the 17th, will measure and post back then.

just a quick question in relation to these big brake kits and rather then make a new topic, are D2/K-Sport all same quality? or is one better then the other.

i remember reading a thread about a member having issues with his K-Sport brake kit.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/365787-k-sport-brake-review/

so kinda dont wanna experience this dilemma.

Yep they are all the same in terms of quality. They come out of the same factory.

The "review" of the k-sport ones does have a bit wrong with it, ill cover that later. with a write up I'm working on. Just haven't had spare time the past month to sit down and do it.

Hey Ash are you still doing a group buy on these brakes? I'm waiting for it : D

Sure am, almost sorted it out and the pricing, looking VERY affordable with ADR approved lines too :)

Had a set on my car now to test for 4-5 months and am happy with the performance even using the "china" pad that comes with them.

Thanks R31Nismoid!

keen on updates of your group buy.

i did read somewhere before that you were trying a set out and was wondering what happened to it.

I've got heaps of pad left and little motivation to pull the things off.

But the pistons on the leading edge (2) are larger than those on the trailing edge.

The pad for the 330mm and 356mm is the same pad.

If thats true Luke you are in for a world of hurt. Are they off a Range Rover, Hummer etc ? They often come with nice and tasty big brakes but cant really be retrofitted to cars

I'll look again in the next few days but there the same 8pots as the Lambo Gallardo, R8 etc.

They are the same or look the same? For instance people generically call F50 calipers the ones with the 44/40mm pistons. But F50s have a range of part numbers and externally look identical to one another...but have many difference piston combinations. I have see F50s with 46/44mm pistons...and I think the 4 pot Brembo off FPV Fords are similar...at around 48/44mm so if you put them on a Nissan they would be horrible.

So your family of 8 pots may be the same as the Lambo etc but they could be a different part number, and given what you are saying about the piston sizes it could be a horrible mismatch.

Somebody, not sure if it was you posted a while ago they had 6 pot or 8 pots off a Range Rover or something which makes me think they are a risk to buy unless you know the piston sizes or are going for a full custom brake install with big gears, boosters and changed pedal ratios

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
