I just fitted the Daleo cro-mo under car brace, it took no longer than 5 minutes to bolt in and should stiffen up the chassis in the front end nicely. Other than bolting it in I needed to slightly bend the bracket with a shifter for clearance so it didn't rub on the bar.

I will critique the improvement in handling later tonight after I go for a drive but it certainly looks the goods.

My car feels like a damn go-cart, so much so that I will have to soften the dampening settings on the front now. I guess you only realize how much flex is in the body when you stop it flexing. :)

I might jig a strut brace now and see if there is any benefit, I will probably have to ditch the plenum spacer though.

Would you say it is similar to the difference experienced when going from std to whiteline swaybars? I remember that transition making the car feel more nimble/less heavy.

Some of the best mods are non power related :)

Not quite but it definitely tightened everything up, it could all change when the diff goes in so I wont spend much time mucking around with settings.

Got to get cracking though, there is a Phillip Island track day coming up in June... :)

I can mail you over my strut brace if you want to test it out. I'd be more interested to see if you can make a strut brace that will allow you to keep the plenum spacer, because my Freeway Dolphin strut brace doesn't.

As Leon said - whats the go? Dale making these up? How much?

Thanks for the feedback there guys; there will be a formal thread in the next day or so, but the brace will come painted, and with all mounting hardware and will cost $160 delivered anywhere in Australia.

I've manufactured a trial version of the brace that fits between the toe arms of the rear subframe; it's a massive pain to make, and I'm not convinced of the benefits to be honest. Also due to the amount of time involved; I'm, having a hard time manufacturing it for a price I consider fair. I'm manufacturing some tooling to bend this one more easily currently; so we'll see how it goes.

With my Freeway Dolphin strut brace in, I have approx 3-4mm for a plenum spacer. IMHO the only way you'd be able to run a strut brace is if you ran it back to the firewall in a triangular design, or maybe something like this: http://www.nengun.com/tein/performance-bar

Mine is already grazing the felt under the bonnet. Wouldn't want to get much closer.

Fitted up a pair of secondhand bars [F & R] [thanks Iain]. diffinately feels sharper [responsive] on turn in, direct feedback in the steering wheel from steering inputs. Steering wheel feedback previously was ever so slightly delayed in comparison. Only real way to know for sure, would be to test on the track. The stopwatch doesn't fib.

Nice, well count me in for one aswell, i'm all about bang for buck :P

I backed 3 clicks out of the front shocks tonight, it drove much better without crashing over potholes and following camber in the road like it was. I will leave the swaybar on hard for now until I get the front diff back in.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.

Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
