So my R32 GTS-T has just ticked over 200,000 k's. Is Trojan still considered the best place to go to have the timing belt and water pump changed?

From personal experience, I would say Yes.

Welcome to the light. Dickson can be a bit of a pain at times but we all gotta experience that. There are a few shops around where people like to take their car. I personally take mine to Trojan, a skyline specialist out in Mitchell.

Welcome to the Skyline game ;)

They are being more then a bit of a pain with me. have you ever heard them say to anyone rectify your engine tune??? yea i know trojan only because my car 10 years ago when it came into AUS got taken to them for a full rebuild apart from rods. but when i went to see john to get some information about my car he just seemed a bit bland with me, maybe i just ask the wrong questions but yea just didn't get the best vibes which is a shame cause I've seen some of their work apart from my car and they are very good. one thing that also annoys me is no matter who you go to they all say, that persons Dyno is crap mine is the best for F$%# sake can't someone just be honest about their Dyno haha.

and just last night my car on the drive home from ESP decided that its AFM would blow out on me so now i can't even drive my car :( 3 months I've owned it.....

John can come across a bit like that over the phone. But is truly a great guy to speak to in person. He's honest and won't stuff you around. He's got a very good rep here in Canberra. He may charge a bit, but remember.. you're paying for quality with John. But, in saying that.. I don't really call John unless I am booking in / wanting to buy something from him. but when I do call for his opinion and he's always good on the phone, but yeah.. don't take it personally :)

My supra was tuned with ESP for years. My gtr has been returned by ESP and is a million times better. Most general servicing I do myself. ESP replaced my clutch recently as well. I've never had an issue with they boys there.

I've bought things from Trojan and know a lot of people that have been there without any issues. Really both shops are fine depending on what side of town you're on.

Hi all,

It looks like both Trojan and Import Parts and Mechanical are recommended places to take a Skyline.

Ive an R33 (here's my newbie thread http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/462755-first-r33-gts-t/)and want her converted to a manual when I re-locate to the ACT in a couple of months.

Is there anywhere else around the ACT that people recommend/have experience w/ in doing the manual conversion?

Cheers,

Shaun.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
