Hi guys!

My 2009 R35 is now out of warranty, and I am keen to upgrade my turbo. I have been recommended the HKS GT 800, but am currently considering the HKS GT 1000.

Does anybody have any experience with either of the above two turbo kits? Or would you recommend I look in another direction?

In addition, I'm also due for a tyre change. Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Haran.

Hey mate...go check out / post in the R35 specific section of the forums, as most of them have 35s; only a couple of owners regularly browse in this Victoria section.

LOL very few GTR owners of any generation browse the Vic section for that matter (you should see the Vic garage meets, 2 skylines (GTST, GTT etc.), 1 GTR (BNR or CBA), and an odd bunch of totally unrelated cars lol) !! Mostly GTSTs, dreamers, and other randoms :O

They aren't unrelated...many of those at the meets owned Skylines years ago, including a lot of GTRs. They've moved on from their cars, but not the people, which is awesome. We do get the occasional tool with a superiority complex though; fortunately they never last long!

Many members move on, just VIC Wasteland peps run the Vic Meets.

Occasionally a few randoms show up, but if you ain't familiar with VIC Wasteland crowed, you're on your own.

Until you make and effort to talk to others.

I don't mean to offend, but I don't understand the "dreamers" part.

I mean I am so envious and dream to be one of the people that own an outdated $35,000 second hand(probably 4th hand) GTR34 with wound back kms*

*sarcasm intended.

LOLLL i meant the kids that rock up in bangers that aren't 4th hand $35,000 GTRs. They're 16th hand $3000 non-turbo GTS' with drift toys hanging on the tow hooks and and more panel damage than Pamela Anderson's box

Anyways, no offence or pretentiousness intended. I was simply making the point that for a skyline car club there are barely any GTRs at meets and even other variants of skyline for that matter (from what i've seen. Saw a VW, a few old BMWs, Honda accord with rims and a few Silvias at a meet last year. Oh and there were 1 or 2 skylines outside :/ ). But going off what Birds has said this is because people used to own skylines and now they own all sorts of other cars yet still come to the meets in effect making SAU VIC more of a social club than a dedicated Skyline club. Just an observation :D

Look at it like this. Yes it is a car club. But the cars aren't the members, the people are, and the people are what make a club, regardless of what beaten up Pamela Anderson box they drive!

You do realise that most of us drive our Daily's to the Monthly Meets?

I always laugh at any reference to how absolutely destroyed Pamela Anderson's box must be... but really, I don't think you understand what this club is about... It's not just about the cars, it's about the love of cars in general.

I can love 1970's Porsche's, or Evo 3's, or Maseratti's or even Civics... and I'd still be able to fit in with the SAU Vic crew if I wasn't a elitist that puts down other peoples choices (or what is obtainable by them on their current income).

Are you saying that SAU VIC should only allow GTR or GTST members to be part of the club? We'd lose 75% of our members overnight because people don't want to be part of such a closed-door club.

Go stick to the GTR Owners group on facebook if that's that kinda thing you're after, otherwise... come hang out, relax and have fun.

Mike is saying that cause the SAU General Meetings are just not as big as they use to be.

Hence why he being a new member and other new members, might be surprised not seeing as many Skylines as they thought they would.

Yeah, you know what goes on as you have been a member since '09, so you have seen how big these meets can get.

But since the lack of present of members these days, the new comers will think differently of the club.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
