KiwiRS4T
Any one heard that the I30 160amp are straight bolt-on affair ? a chap in UK said it was straight bolt on on his r32. I'm trying to buy one from mechman or DC power in the state.. but none are willing to take a R32 case and rebuilt it or make a custom one.. obviously they must think the market is not there and they wont sell enough for them to make it worth it. How much is it going to cost you and how many amps do you want/need? We have a couple of shops here who will rebuild the RB alternators for more output. But I see brand new ones are pretty cheap on Ebay... discopotato03
Don't forget that bigger alternators have heavier rotating parts which is why the big ones have wider pulleys . Some even have one way clutch pulleys so they don't give the engine the heavy flywheel effect when you back off change gears etc . High output alternators are big and heavy and take more engine power to drive . Yes you can overkill here . A . Ryno
I'm keen to hear if anyone has had experience fitting the i30/Maxima alternators mentioned earlier. Sounds like a cheap way to get the extra amps, provided it bolts straight up. Missileman
Do you have a multi-meter to chuck across the battery terminals for a more accurate reading? idling, with and without load would be nice.
