Looks like they'll allow a coupe shape (no surprises there) but the big change being - multiple engine configurations. VR38 for Nissan possibly?

Still a control chassis etc though.

well if there was one category that was having changes forced on it by manufacturers, it is these guys with the disappearance of foulcans and commonwhores.

I've been more interested since the new brands arrived, spent some money on Kelly racing (I feel so dirty) / Nismo gear. It's also been great seeing Volvo get straight to the front.

On the downside, their decision to move most rounds to pay tv means I won't watch most rounds any more. At least I can watch the Bathurst 12 hours instead :)

Agreed, I think it was a move that needed to happen. The coupes still need to be 4 seater vehicles which would rule out vehicles like the 370Z coming in anytime soon in the future. The engine configurations will be good to see, I seem to recall Nissan asking for 4 cylinder turbo, but don't know how serious that was considering it looks like they'll have to stay with the Altima chassis for a while. The move to pay TV is going to kill a lot of their viewing though.

Honestly I'm just loving all the bogan backlash, especially the Ford guys haha.

LOL I was eyeing off some of their "Classic" shirts with the Group A GTR on their site too.

Didn't know about the move to Pay TV. Seems like business suicide to me as they'll get less exposure. Mate, I can't say how much I love the Bathurst 12 hour. IMHO they should just scrap "supercars" and move to GT3. So much more variety with the cars.

Whatever car they decide to use, it's still a control chassis though so I hope they don't do anything ridiculous and stick a GTR badge on the back of whatever they use.

Some part of me does want to see someone come in with a 4cyl Turbo and kick arse. I don't why but there you go.

I have been to the 12hr the last couple of years, so much better then V8SC in my opinion. More variety, and less bogans lol. You can walk around pretty much wherever you want. I even tried to talk to the Japanese guys that were there with the GTR last year, but my minimal knowledge of Japanese didn't help haha. I think tried to talk to another Japanese guy, who turned out to be Australia and part of the Nissan Australia team which made me look like a big idiot, hahaha.

Yeah that's how i read it. Hence the GTT sale option for them.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

They can just stick a VR into something that resembles a Altima etc if they want. There's nothing that says the motor has to be from the car that it looks like.

LOL

Has to be a 4cyl turbo or 6cyl turbo though. That motor is way too advanced for this series.

Plus you can see Eric Bana from a few meters away.

I'm pretty sure the race car has to end up rwd. The altima is fwd and the Volvo is awd, there isn't any reason Nissan can't run the gtr, and considering what they have been saying in the media about wanting to run their flagship car in the series, I'm pretty sure it will happen

Doesn't really matter, it is all on the COTF platform with all of the control parts. The engines and aero come under parity rules as I understand anyway, so you won't see a runaway model in the series.

I suppose we will see a change to the ford ecoboost v6 too.

As much as I love angry atmo engines.

this will be pretty cool.

so long as they don't turn around and drop the cars to 500hp. given its v8 super cars were talking about. they will find some way of making up stupid rules and ruin it

Actually they wont sound any better. Have you heard the Volvo and to a lesser extent the MB? The flat plane crank V8's sound great. Should be mandatory. Turbos don't sound of anything much on track cars when they are bunched together. Almost as bad as Porsches.

Explains why they're trying to kill off the 12 hour.

Typical suprecrap form, kill off all forms of motorsport other than their own sh!t show.

re the GTR, there was an article a month or so back, where heads of Nissan pretty much said that they have no interest in cheapening the GTR's image, by having it race in this category.

Completely agree with them to, Its currently running across the globe against supercars, and having it in this series against commodores would be a huge step backwards for it image wise.

    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
