Hey guys, i'm a bit torn.

I'm looking for a RB26DETT car for my next ride and i'm stuck between R33 GTR and a Stagea 260RS.

This is going to be my DAILY and it will have to run a 11 second quarter mile

They use the same engine, most of the same components, both AWD and same power etc.

I was going to go for the R33 for the weight but I found out it's actually not that much of a difference(about 200kg I think). I like that the stagea is very unique and uncommon (sleeper) but the GTR has a sportier look and feel.

Now i understand this is completely personal choice but I wanna see what you guys think!

All opinions and thoughts would be appreciated :)

Here's the link for the poll. fire away!

Why dont you create a poll here?

oh i didn't know i could do that!

I think you should decide what you want and get it. I don't see the point of a poll. Are we deciding what you buy?

Just trying to get some opinions. I'm having a hard time deciding :) what would you get?

Either of them modified to run an 11 is going to be a major pain in the ass to drive daily IMO.

Better off getting one for a weekend toy, and a shitter for the daily grind.

I thought they could run 11s with around 300awkw? Could be wrong.

My R33 GTR ran a 12.3 and had a little bit more in it. It could have squeezed another tenth or two out of it. It was ok to drive around but the clutch made it horrible in traffic.

If you can avoid traffic or get a nicer clutch then you'll be fine with it as a daily.

How much was it worked? Built engine? also how much at wheel power was it pushing at the time?

It has to me be my daily as i can only accommodate 1 car but i'm happy to fall into the 12s.

Not much at all done. Stock turbos, stock engine, just management, boost and some other little bits n pieces. From memory it made 260kw at the wheels.

that's good to know! RB's impress me every day.. what a machine.

$15k stag wagon daily

$15k 33 gtr to mod for the strip.

whats your budget, the compromise trying to do both can be expensive and well a compromise in both directions.

spend $30k (probably less)to buy 2 decent cars
spend another 10-20k (could be heaps less could be heaps more) on the gtr and have a track weapon and dont compromise so much.

Yeah, daily drives would be awesome without traffic! Lol! We all know there are some crappy commutes in Sydney. Can I get a Amen!? M1/2/4/5 all horrible.

Problem as I see it, you have an older car with some suspect reliability depending on whose flung spanners on it in the past. You have something you really can't leave at a train station cause you'll never know if it will be there when you get back, kids will open doors into it and scrape is bumpers in the shopping centres and make you cry.

Having said that, look at a Series 2 C34 manual. The VCT is a positive compared to the 26, you have a much simpler turbo system, chuck a hypergear high flow on it and it'll make good power with the usual upgrades, but won't stand out and be a massive sleeper. Chop plenty of GTRs in that and it'd be a laugh.

I'd get a Stagea so I can lug my dog around in it (would actually do this if I could sell my R32 GT-R). But since I already have a daily, GT-R all the way!

yeah... don't have money for that :)

Don't get me started on the M2.. OH MY GAAWWWD it sucks.

You've given me a bit to think about.. maybe the rb25det could be a good route for a daily... I'm happy as long as i'm chopping rexys

Yup.. I'm leaning towards the stagea just because it's different and a mad sleeper.

I'd suggest the GTR as a strip/weekender and getting a cheap daily

By modifying the stag to do an 11, you are removing practicality i'd seem to think.. in saying that, my friend recently bought a stag, just the rb25det version and it's very fun to drive and be a passenger, and nobody seems to know what they are when you boost past them lol

The autech stageas still command a higher price than regular C34s. Im not sure the extra money is (only) buying you hardware, you pay for the rare factor.

If you are going to mod a C34 with plenty of cash to spend, you might as well get a cheap chassis then do an RB30 conversion. Stageas need the torque down low.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
