I only run 15-16 daily/track and 19psi for dyno and drags, been doing it since 2002 and had replace a set cause bearing worn out and exhaust wheel was sitting on housing :D

Is that the SR VCT or VE ?

Doesn't the VE also do lift like the V-TEC

Had a remote tune this morning to see if they could get it a little leaner to stop the plugs fouling up and it seems to have more response in Boost off, low and higher boost levels. But still went tits up around 7000rpm.

But my question is, when I got my car back from the build the starter motor sounded like it was still engaged after I let the key go, screach! thought it was me at first , but not after that, after all the different cars I have started I should know when to let the key go :/

When I first told the builder about this they said maybe it should have had some lub on the shaft , then, it might be a mismatch with the new parts with the shaft ??

Now they said I need a new Hi Torque starter motor to go in, the old starter motor has no problem turning the motor over and starting the car, it just seems to stay engaged after it starts for a split second. I just want them to fix it as it was before the build?

Anyone had any experience with something like this ??????????

You wouldn't need a higher torque starter as the engine is now lower compression.

Not sure why they would have suggested that.

Lower compression, thought it was the same, maybe a little different with the lager capacity ?

Maybe because I suggested they did not install the starter motor properly after the build. It was OK before then ?

I love it when people say it was OK when we tried it , but the problems are there the first time you drive it out of the shop , farking black magic :merli:

Did you ring/email Jim to say that it still won't rev to 8000 RPM without it having a fit?

you cruel :( goes better to 6500rpm now and I challenge the whale for a quick run , TOMORROW! hehe

It is a minor hiccup that wont stop, hic hic hic hic hic , see what I mean, hic etc hic :)

Yes had a red , hic

Hi torque starter my arse, i have 9.5:1 static comp in my 3.0 with shorter duration cams then you and my stock starter starts it perfectly fine

mismatched parts is also BS, the flywheel starter ring should be exact to the original one and the starter motor gear will have a bit of wear giving more clearance then factory

It is most likely a sticky starter motor from sitting around for so long and should have been lubed before reassemble, but even then it was only 5 months, mine sat around for near 18 months and has never givin me an issue

Hi Mick

This is what I mean, I might not know about modifying cars but I know if something is working OK and doing the job, you do not need to crank it up to do the same job, just fix it

this is what id expect from a big $$$$ build lol.. just throwing it up haha I know maybe totally irrelavent but hey the sound is enough to be ok with a bit less bottom end torque ...

start it up, run it and holy shit!!!

What Mick said.

Pete fwiw I wouldn't drive it other than to Sydney, you don't need it to foul up even worse when you're nearly there and in Sydney traffic.

he did a remote tune this morning and it is running much better, you can feel it, there is not much chance of making it worse, but?

Did you watch what he did to the tune?

Did he remove the password?

I am happy where my power is and it will only get better.

If you drove my car this morning and changed gears just before 7000rpm, you would have loved it, well I did :)

Once it is sorted it will be just what I wanted :)

Now that is some positive thinking, haha

Won't get worse, just considering the possibility of cumulative fouling. Probably not an issue at cruise but why take a chance when you might be spending a lot of time idling, stop start etc? Your call mate, just saying...

Damn that flutter!

look at the whole turbo to IC to intake plenum move from the 50psi!!

Yeah, I know what you mean, but the idea of the remote tune was to tune it a bit more to the lean side to stop the fouling. and by the way it is running now I think he has done that, well I hope :)

He was happy with the result and has no trouble with me driving the car but I will not be doing much before it goes in for the retune

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
