GOT SUM's RB34

Injector pins came yesterday, got that wired straight up and heatshrunk the label down. 

Picked up my mates tube benders yesterday as well so I started them today. Decided to move the inline fuel filter to the boot to clean the bay up a little more. Will get the other lines in and then see if I can drop them down a little so they dont sit as high.

Got the other lines done today. It looks OK. The benders aren't the greatest things. Marks the tube up a little bit, but it'll do the job. Contemplating redoing a couple of them. Ill only get one shot as I stuffed up a couple already 🤣

Not too much has been going on these last couple of weeks. Have been flat out at work doing OT. 

Got the boot wall cut up a couple weeks ago. Still need to pull it back out and carpet it. Will run the carpet to overlap onto the factory mould on the RHS and probably use some velcro to stick them together. 

Been working on the harness this weekend. Bulkhead is terminated now and sleeved back to ecu. Need to wait for that and mount it up to get the correct length on the wires before terminating. 

Got a call last week saying my tailshaft was finally finished. Went to pick it up and they had a uni joint on the gearbox end at the measurement I gave them instead of a flange.... So they need to shorten it and fix that up. Hopefully not another 4 month wait...

Picked my tailshaft up yesterday arv!! Test fit it and because they've gone to a ford centre bearing and CV I had to modify the mounting bracket a little bit. 5mm of each side and she went up into position and fits well. It has a 1350 uni and flange on the gearbox end so it should be plenty strong! 

Got stuck in this morning and started on the wiring mess. Cut out all the wires not required that go to the body connector and cut the engine harness out. Need to go through and work out which ones I need to keep and rewire into the new ecu. Should save a small amount of weight as well. I'd love to get in and rip the dash and everything out to completely remove wiring but cbf. 

Next up was the power harness for alternator, starter etc. It has a few connectors from factory that run out of it. Cut it all apart and removed what was no longer required and put some new corro and taped it all back up and bolted it all back into place. 

After that I worked out where I can mount the new flex sensor. Found a couple of factory bolt holes and drilled a new hole on the bracket to suit. Need to go get a few fittings and adapters tomorrow so I can keep going.

Couple more hours on her today. Mounted up the sensor block. Should look pretty neat once its all done. Wiring won't come out on the most ideal angle but I'll see what I can do. 

Decided to get back in and have a look at the speakers and crossovers. Got the driver side woofer ready to mount up, I just need to get some longer bolts. Cut the passenger side stock speaker mount up to get the door bin blocker on and made up some brackets to mount the crossovers. First one I wasn't happy with, so I changed angles for the second one which looks a lot better. Will see how it goes when it comes to wiring it up to see if it'll still clear alright.

Yesterday I snuck out into the shed for an hour and pulled the boot wall out and cut up some carpet to glue on. Also glued the speaker pods together and let it all sit overnight with some weights on them. 

Went out today and glued the carpet around the sides and back and then started the driver side speaker mounting while I let it all dry. Started to tidy up the wiring back there and get it all ready for when I put a new battery in. Going to relug  the surge tank wiring as it looks like I didn't use the right ring lugs 🤣 Some too big and some not big enough.

Both speakers are now in, need to get some speaker wire and run it through the car and while I'm there I need to find where my rear wheelspeed sensor cable is sitting under the carpet 🤦‍♂️

Tell me more about this Ford centre bearing? I'm going to see my tailshaft man tomorrow, same plan but was just going to use a Nissan centre bearing

I'm pretty sure it's out of a falcon. I believe it comes as one (centre bearing and cv). I originally thought I'd have the stock centre bearing until I picked it up and they told me. They had a hard time finding something that would work with the stock setup.

Thanks mate, now that I'm looking at it on the PC and not my phone I can see you have a standard uni at the rear. I've got a CV on my diff but a flat flange on the back of the gearbox. I like the idea of a CV centre bearing, I'll see what my tailshaft guy has to say about it. Thanks for the quick reply.

Picked up a bunch of fittinga yesterday to finish plumbing the fuel system and sensor block and finished it all up this arvo. 

Went to put the crank sensor in after I finished shrinking it all up. There wasn't enough clearance to screw it back in with the SCL on the back so I had to cut it off and put another piece over, screw it in and then shrink it back down. 

Next up will be sorting the wiring back out 😴

Got my lengths all cut for the pressure sensors and terminated at one end. Need to splice them now and shrink it all up and terminate sensor connectors. 

Finally found some M10 bolts kicking around to bolt my A/C compressor back up. Popped the belt on and tensioned it all up. 

Decided to take my pedal into work with me today and bend my pedal into position. No chance I was getting it perfect without test fitting so I picked up a new much needed vice after work and bent it up this afternoon. Got it into the position I wanted and then started cutting the stopper to reach full throttle piece by piece. 

Grabbed a few bolts from work to see what I'd need to fix the boot wall so it doesn't rattle and smash my hardlines up around while I'm driving. Test fitted one bolt up and will need to work out how I'll do the rest of them without it being a total prick to move around to undo the hardlines. I'm thinking a bracket on the top right and then stud the bottom left corner out to secure it.

Thanks mate, wiring can transform the engine bay look! Plus I was thinking about doing it as a bit of a side gig later on so might as well get some practice in on my own car 🤣 

Started splicing wires and getting it all sheathed and terminated today. Almost finished but ran out of clear shrink to finish the last connector :( Will pop to the shop tomorrow and pick up some more and finish it off and get it in the car this week.

Popped into Jaycar on the way home from work and grabbed some clear shrink. Crimped up the last connector and then finished off the EMAP connector as well. 

Tomorrow I'll hopefully get it in the car ready to go.

    • Thanks for all the replies! I also wanted to ask if wheels that were fitted on Ford Falcons would fit the 350GTs as well? In the area I'm at there aren't that many options for secondhand wheels and new ones here are way out of my budget. From what I've seen, most of the wheels that are available that were fitted on Ford Falcons have an offset of +33 to +36, with a centre bore of 70.5mm whereas the stock 350GT's ones are 66mm, can't seem to find any hubcentric rings that fit that difference though. 
    • 215/45/18 tyres are probably a little on the low side compared to the factory tyre, it should be closer to a 245/45/19, which will get you about an extra 11mm of height, and should make you speedo read a bit closer to reality. 245/45/19s will be a bit too far the other way and you risk a speeding ticket as your speedo might read slower than your actual speed.  245/40/19s would be correct if you are going to 19in rims, they will give you a similar total diameter to the 245/45/18 tyres.  
    • That's something I forgot to put in my list. The aggressive anti-squat in R32 is a f**king menace. I still need to decide if I'm going to drag the subframe out of my car and weld in the GKTech corrector kit. The main reason to dither is the need to switch to spherical joints in the lower arm to account for the twist induced in the rear pivot caused by lowering the front pivot. And yes...we do put better subframes in R32s, and I wish I'd gotten an S14 one instead of an A31 when I did the "take off and nuke it from orbit" HICAS delete all those years ago.
    • I have been looking at some setting on the alarms for the Q60 and what buttons do and so and also been looking for details on the alarm in my V37 which is a standard issue with the car. settings like window roll up and a few others seem to not work at all. i cant seem to find exact info on V37 alarms so Q60 is all i can really go off i have not tried 400Z alarm settings or info yet so that will be next. any one got like a sheet of info on the alarm system in the V37 as all my documents are in japanese but i thought the system would basically be like standard through similar models? 
    • I had a fuel smell coming from the drivers rear and pulled the tank out to inspect where it was coming from, turns out the breather hose from the tank to the filler neck was perished. I’m going to Japan next week and I’ll grab it while I’m there  pulled the oil tank apart and started cleaning this crap out of it, some brake cleaner and rags got it looking new again
