Baffled Sump by the look of it? I always liked the prospect of the HOR extended sump but I read its a pain in the ass and can only be fitted with the engine out. Lucky you're already there ;)

Baffled but not gated, feeling a bit poor haha.. Yeah you "could" do it motor in but at that rate you might as well take the motor out.

Some progress tonight, I removed the crank. Some scoring on the bearings so might change all of them too :(

I was hoping on the conrod bearings needed changing but YOLO right? I still want to retain the standard NEO rods and NEO pistons because they said not to let the Nissan out *ahem* @GTSBoy, @Piggaz. Nissan hasn't been let out lol.

Oh hai! Looks the goods, sump was modified to suit the AWD motor going RED as the pick up sits more forward. Test fitting was spot on, I like very much - great success.

Off to the machinist it goes, the silly crank.

Nissan is well and truly out now brah. You've contaminated it with Sydney air. Should be alright though. #RBLIFE4EVA

Still stock!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Crank at shop, but their machinist has buggered off overseas for 4x weeks!

Thinking if I should do connecting rod bolts too lol.

Still stock motor :)

Are stock bolts capable of 400rwkw?

If no, then replace.

Given the driving style I'd worry more about balance/harmonics/oil pump strength etc.

Unless the rod bolts are a known weak point?

Got a good balancer for it?

derno, Matt Wooten & TIm Burt don't seem to have issues with stock oil pump, stock rod/bolts

Soooooo why did you pull it apart if these guys have been trucking along for years with the stock setup?

just to install the Spool oil pump gears and to install a new head gasket - that was it :)

May have gotten a tiny bit carried away with the headwork but that's just it.. everything else is just pretty stock

Actually had free time for a change, which I rarely do.. so decided to do some work on the siet bok rust bucket.

I always has an issue where the camber kept changing every track day and I had a feeling the OEM camber bolts were moving so I decided to deleted the bastard with this GKtech camber lock out kit.

On removing the OEM camber bolts it was evident the machined groove and offset washer weren't working correctly, most likely slipping when I'm smashing into ripple strips.

Man 60% of yhe arms are Hardrace lol.. bastard should sponsor me!

Yeah cnuts!

Removing those stupid machined screws are not fun, used those impact/hammer screw drivers and a bit of heat. I bashed the shit out of the pump like Pacquiao vs Horn and eventually all of them came out.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
