UPDATE:

Dropped the gearbox 2 weeks ago and haven't had a chance to work on the car since. Hoping to put in some hours this weekend to take the box to a shop to get the input shaft bearing replaced.

UPDATE

We've found the issue with the car and we believe it is the ARP fly wheel bolts. Apparently the bolts are too long and the flywheel causes that tapping noise. Ordered OEM flywheel bolts from Nissan and I will be putting the box back on next week when I fly home from work.

Whilst the gearbox and everything else was out, I thought I would freshen up the underbody. Here's a few pictures from the small restoration project from last week.

Depending on the flywheel you have used you may need to cut the fly wheel bolts down, it’s common on multi plate clutch flywheels

Yes that is exactly a friend of mine said. I just don't want to cut the bolt and take the risk of cutting it too much or not enough so I've ordered new oem bolts.

You measure stuff then cut. It isn't rocket science.

UPDATE

Flywheel bolt issue is now resolved.

I've attached both videos for reference purposes. It might help someone out. Very happy that the car is mechanically completed now. Next stage, paint!

Saying that, I think I want to change the colour of my rocker covers, timing cover and the intake. Thinking of going Pearl yellow, any thoughts or recommendations?

Sucks I can't drive my car around yet as it needs to get painted now and I am waiting for my father inlaw to do his magic :P

Currently just finishing off the final touches off the car (assuming in 2 months it will be completely ready.

Last weekend I've stripped the interior fully (excluding the dash) literally washed and cleaned everything up and replaced heaps of parts with new oem parts.

New pioneer 6.5' rear speakers. Also took the cluster out as someone decided to wrap the cluster facia in carbon fiber, looked disgusting. Replaced the cluster lights with LED White lights as well.

Whats next?

-Connecting the headlights (really struggling with this as the connectors does not match up);

-Side indicators (need to order new ones);

-Connecting fender indicator lights;

-Fit the front bumper;

-Fit the rear number plate lights;

-Drive the car for a bit and book the power tune.

Update:

Headlights are done, side indicators are done, fender indicator lights are wired in and done.

I have to trim the N1 vents in order to fit the front bumper and it is hitting the intercooler. Keen to hear if someone else had this issue?

Here's a video of the power tune.

The car made 517hp on 26psi E85 and 430hp on 98 at 18psi.  Roller dyno.

    • Had a chat to Tony Mamo - he advised that looking at the graph's shape (regardless of number translation) it shouldn't be levelling off like that up top. He said it looks like the car is running a restrictor plate or something of that nature. Luckily the last dyno pull on E85 was saved to the PC - So I did a quick trace of Barometric KPA vs Intake manifold pressure, and lo and behold I see a copy of the 'waves' I was seeing on the dyno: I'm not entirely sure how to go about addressing this. It may be worth sacrificing IAT to run a more direct intake for the motor. Though packaging this could be flat out impossible given the constraints of the car. I should have removed the intake pipe to see if this made a difference but looking at this graph I now have something to potentially test in the future and think about. This one is from an old track day log in the OLD setup going through gears on track.
    • Oh, I forgot too, all the multimedia stuff captured and sold through things like people playing Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go specifically, can actually be traced all the way back to a CIA investment company too. So yep, they're watching everything. Not to mention the new stuff where they've worked out how to use WiFi signals to be able to map occupants inside of a building. That one would be something that I see being more used in public/government buildings, as you need to understand the signals when the room has no one in it first. It's not as easy as Hollywood would like you to think it is.
    • Followed ☺️ Assuming those are NEO rods, then at least 400kW all day.
    • Lets keep this going , Spotted this very stock V35 in Penrith and also saw a nice R32 FLY past me on Castlereagh rd , sounded really good.
    • Great work! Give it a clean up with some Emery paper, and I'd run a thread die over the threads too to clean them up. It will make reinstall much easier, and also life easier for the next time it needs to come out.
