Tow Bars for Stageas

yeah im inclined to think that "the metals to thin" is a load of BS. if the stageas r so weak and flimsy why would they come factory fitted with roof racks. IMO, since they put roof racks on it they must think it can handle more than 5 people and a boot full of junk.

I did the ring around Brisi as well and got various answers from "what is a Stagea" to no you will have to get that built ans engineered etc... no one quite as stupid as saying the car 's metal to thin.

Lol what a laugh... but then again most of then would anly be used to bolting to a Dunndore or Falcoon and we all know they are built like tanks... NOT!

I tracked down Andy at Southport. can do and has done a few Stagea'a but not able to engineer it for you but garentees it would pass if you got it engineered yourself... quoted me $450ish mark from memory.

I have the details at work I will post them in the morning.

I rang Max in ACT and spoke to him about his towbars.

He has a jig and is happy to build and transport a 2000kg towbar to anywhere.

The price is $560+ frieght.

As mentioned before this is his design and rating you will need to get the towbar localy fitted and certified.

I am going to order a towbar soon... if anyone else in brisbane would like to order one as well and share the freight costs (Max says about $100 to Brisi) let me know.

I believe it wont be to dificult to get it engineered and I have a few contacts that did my old Pathfinder with the SR20DET 2WD conversion and the rally car.

For fitting I was thinking of doing it myself and here if anyone else wants to get involved I have access to a workshop on Saturdays with 3 hoists... or if there is enough of us in Brisbane we could approach someone to do a multi-fit for a few Stageas at the same time.

Hello All

I have recently purchased a 2002 M35. I would like to purcase a towbar for it. I am in Sydney area. I won't be towing cars but motorcycles often down the Hume to Phillip Island. I am looking forward to seeing how the Stagea will do on these long days, I expect great.

Anyway has anyone had a bar built?

Thanks I have many other questions but will try to go to the appropriate forum site.

Regards

HI Stag250

Did you have your bar done by someone in Sydney?

My local guy can make one but wants to charge for engineers cert and designing approx $300 before making the bar.

I can accept this but why have him reinvent the wheel (so to speak).

Any info as to where you bought and price etc would be great

Thanks

Murray

I asked him last year and he declined.

Local lass has just got her Stag and it has a towbar. Soon I will be looking and get one done similar.

HI Murray,

Im looking to get a towbar doen as well on my ARX4. What load rating are you intending to get? I'm trying to work out if it's possible to tow the track car, total weight probably about 1700 kgs.

thanks

Eugene

yeah sounds right, you've done well to get one of thse boats down to 1300kg :). Mine was rated to 2t to allow for 1500kg car and 500kg trailer. Any more than that and you need break away brakes on the trailer which is a whole other world of trouble.

I'm in NZ and it cost me $420 inc gst at MBY Rotorua

this included the lights plug and he replaced a blown brake bulb

took best part of a day and he had done one before

should be good for towing the weight of the vehicle

    • The stock one will outperform any aftermarket standard position exhaust manifold. If you don't believe me, do a back to back test (same turbo, same boost, same timing) and you'll be super surprised.
    • Any recommendations on a decent replacement manifold that doesnt break the bank or require additional mods for the stock turbo setup? I figure if I'm going to pull the manifold off anyway to fix the studs might as well replace it.
    • So I checked the turbo out today. Very minimum play at all just enough for the oil to take up when it's running. I did find an exhaust leak at the manifold. 1 stud all the way in the front is missing and the one all the way in the back is broken off. Front has visible signs of an exhaust leak. I'll fix that soon but that's not my problem still.  I also found that the nipple coming off the turbo had the hose capped off and a hose ran from the j-pipe by the bov going to the wastegate. I removed that hose and capped that nipple and put the turbo nipple hose back on the wastegate.  There was a ton of oil residue all through the charge side of the intercooler piping going to the throttle bodg. I'm thinking that's from the pcv. Doesn't seem to be coming from the turbo that was all clean on the pipes side.  Haven't had a chance to check fuel pressure yet, haven't had time been having to pull a lot of doubles at work. I did pick up some carb cleaner to clean the iacv but wanted to make sure I had a fresh gasket in case the old one rips when I pull it off.  I'm waiting on a MAF that was supposed to be here today but delayed to Monday. Have a double Monday and Friday and work all of next weekend so going to try to find some time in the middle of the week to try that out. Did about a 10m trip around the block today and towards the end the issues were coming back. Fingers crossed on this MAF but if not just going to throw a fuel pressure gauge in and see where I'm at.  Did notice today that I can definitely hear the injectors pulsing. Very audible clicking coming from them. Assuming that's normal? Should also mean CAS is functioning somewhat properly. After it warmed up when I started it the intermittent misfires came in again. Did start doing that before it was fully warmed up.
    • This morning I carefully reinstalled the manifold and started looking at a couple of things I need to do.  Heat wrap arrived sometime today so I popped into the shed with the missus dishwashing gloves and started wrapping the first half of the dump and the screamer/plumb back.  Once I do the second half I'll be able to final fit the turbo and exhaust up.  Also pulled the harness out today and started terminating it at the ECU end. A connector is done, just need to run the remaining wires that arent in the harness - 12v, gnd and couple I/O
    • A31 is pretty much the same thing without HiAIDS I mean CAS, no improvement lol. Not to late to send it.
