Bazelinez
Mine has it and a mates has it here as well.... Behind the front wheel on the underneath of the floor plan rust has set it fairly well under the grey paint/sealant stuff they use from the factory. Mine had two bits about the size of a 50 cent piece on both sides in the same place.... I've hammered and sanded it back and sealed and bogged it. Mates was far worse with about 6 inches of rust on each side. Its easy to miss cause you have to stick your head right under the car. If you've never looked get out there and look! he he, cheers! Bazelinez
I can't get under it to get pics but if you look at the car side on. Where the side skirt is at the front look underneath there and you'll see it. It will be about 5 inches in. If its not there you're lucky. Seems all the road muck and salt hits here first, hence the rust... nOOSE
I've got rust at those spots too. also another place that is quite common is the rear quarter panel just behind the rear wheel. sometime the boot seals let water in there and rust starts from the inside out. mine is getting rust of the quarter panel taken off right now and i forgot to tell him about the other spot mite have to ring him. btw getting rust taken off is not cheap. nOOSE Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79845-r32-rust-warning-problem-area/#findComment-1454963 Share on other sites
Bazelinez
sorry to hear dude, mine is free from rust everywhere but in these spots.... I don't think it will get much worse with our usually dry climate. If I see it spreading however I will get it looked at. Wonder how much it would cost to get rust out the floorpan, a left leg I think..... Mulkers
Are their other common places 32's get rust? Could we get a list going? I know mine has a little surface rust under the bonnet, near the firewall. I will remove that shortly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79845-r32-rust-warning-problem-area/#findComment-1487156 Share on other sites

femno
omg rust on 32's is crazy. ive got a GTR and thank god im doin a full ground-up rebuild. i found two rust holes on each side on the floor where u guys were talking about. I also hav rust under the rear wheel arches in the bottom corners on both sides. ive got some pics from the inside, hopefully yours isnt this bad, but might be whats under your carpet. Its really hard to find, i wouldnt have found it if i didn grind away all of the floor sealant, so u guys should do that as well. As for the wheel arches there was just a big hole that was easier to see. See the pic of where i had to fill it with seam sealer. cowie165
The whole car is currently being painted. Rust found on drivers side, on the inside of the door frame, just under the latch. Rust found around the rear windscreen seal. Pretty bad too - in between surface rust and body rust. Rust found on the outer sills, but having some knob forklift your car and then park it on a wharf will do that every time Also may have some being the LH headlight. Well it looks like there may be some back there. THe spot I mean would is being the fender. Pics in my gallery *sigh* used to have easy links. sh@un
Worse than any horror movie. You sure those 32's weren't made by Alfa Romeo Mine looks fine wherever I look, but after seeing those pics... *breaks out in cold sweat* Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79845-r32-rust-warning-problem-area/#findComment-2189558 Share on other sites
eMsta
Is that only for 32's or is that for 33s and 34s also? If there is heaps of rust, isnt that indicative of the car being in an accident? Beer Baron
well thankfully i just completely pulled one of my 32s apart and there was no rust. acutally there was a tiny little piece of surface corrosion on the part of the rear quarter where the bumper usually covers. other than that it was fine. I did do one trick though which was remove the rubber bungs under the boot arear/rear quarter so that water (if it can get in) can get out. TurboX
I would not be surprised if Remix's R32 had been submerged in some natural flood disaster situation like they have at times in Japan. What better way to dump a car after drying it out than at the auctions where all our cars virtually come from. Otherwise maybe it came from prefectures where they put salt on the roads in the winters? Ronin 09
salt on the roads and inside the rear quarter...? that's nasty... surprised it arrived in one piece!
