No problem, we are happy to try and help out. In my experience I have never had a cop go looking for engine numbers and the like. The most I have had them do is check height, tyres, loudness to the ear and the obvious things. In saying that, I tend to try and keep my cars as standard looking as possible under the bonnet and avoid known cop hotspots. Also try not to be too much of a hoon and if I do get pulled up, not be a smart arse. I was recently pulled up at a booze bus and as soon as Mr hwy patrol saw the skyline coming, he started charging over and asking questions about my roll bar, who installed it, bolt or weld in,is it engineered. I answered with I did, bolt, and unengineered. He then said I needed to put thicker padding on it and let me go. Moral is, if your car is neat, not overly loud, not too low,has good tyres, not screaming for attention and your not acting like a tool, cops generally leave you alone. There is a few out there though who won't turn a blind eye to anything and know their stuff. Fortunately I haven't had the displeasure of meeting 1 of them. Since your car is a classic, I think you'll even get more leniency from them.- 22 replies

Wasn't an event, I was practising on a Wednesday avo at Frankston motocross track. Tac didn't ask questions at all. Got a letter from them about 4-5 weeks after lodging the claim telling me it was accepted. Bike was a Tm 250 2t enduro running on knobbies. Full road reg for enduro eligibility.

Interesting thing with tac. Years ago I had a stack and broke my leg on a road registered dirt bike at a motorcross track. I wasn't going to bother trying to claim tac but the doctors at the hospital insisted when I told them the bike was reg'd. I filled out the forms truthfully, expecting to get rejected but surprisingly they came to the party and covered my medical costs and 85% of my wages till I recovered. Was very surprised indeed. Felt like a major win.

Good point but if you get pulled over by old mate petterd and he looks at your engine number, your screwed then aren't you. My advice to the op is to engineer an rb30 et engine and just upgrade that since he wants legal. If it was my own car, I wouldn't engineer anything unless I was forced to. I would register the car with its stock l24 or whatever they come out with and then go to town with a conversion. Keep the thing quiet, not too low and avoid driving through Knox and hardparking at hwy meets but hey that's just me[emoji3] I get the impression the op wants 100% legal. That's the only reason I'm saying rb30. The 25/30 can be done but will be extra headaches. Really all depends how far he is prepared to go.- 22 replies

I had blocked mine temporarily, it ran fine and dosed pretty damn good and costed zero. Ended up reverting to stock when the novelty wore off. Atmo does usually cause issues.

Went for a quick test drive afterwards and logged this on my nifty little android app. Full boost again before 3.5k. The full log of that pull says 18psi at 3400. Happy as with that. It's handy this app. Its designed to be used as a racedash. It has shift lights and you can customise what it displays. It also logs a heap of parameters. Another bonus is its also got an ethanol content gauge. Gotta love android[emoji3] I permanently use my old retired phone to run this app. Edit. Dose has also increased. Doses haaaaardddd[emoji1] -

I've been going insane for ages with boost control issues. I've checked everything I could think of numerous times and finally got to the bottom of it. Damn mac valve. I used to get full boost b4 3.5k and then I lost about 3-400 rpm in response. A few weeks back I threw on a turbotech mbc and the response was back. I proceeded to eBay and ordered a new Mac valve. Today this arrived and was fitted. I did have issues with this earlier on with a wire coming off it but I soldered it back on. Not sure if the issue was related to a bad connection with the wire or just wear and tare of the internals of the valve. -
Scotty nm35 would be your best bet I would say as he had wrecked a few m35's. He's not on here very often anymore but you could try contacting him privately, he runs a business called Scotty's customs. If you google you will be able to get some contact details. Cheers.

From a legal point of view. Would make no difference. I would go with the rb30. To keep it simple you could even leave the 30 head on it. Although a 25 head will be better. I would rather a stock 30 over a stock 25, as you said capacity and torque.- 22 replies

Being a newer engine you would have to retain the newer engines pollution equipment and comply with those emissions standards. Doing a hybrid 25/30 opens up another can of worms with epa as this is not an oe engine that was ever tested for emissions. Which ever way you go, to be legal, an engineers certificate will be required and possibly an exprnsive emissions test. If i was you I would just register the car with stock engine and then do whatever conversion you feel like and to hell with legalities and the epa.- 22 replies

The quality is actually pretty decent, i was worried that I would have to grind some of the calliper for clearance as I had read some older reviews saying but I didn't have to, so maybe hfm revised them. I have used their adaptors before on the back of my S15 and they proved to be fine and held together well. They are about the only thing out of the whole hfm catalogue that is any good. -

Thanks man. I will let you know how they go, but in your case you already have 310mm GTT brakes so going to 324mm isn't really much. It won't do much for me either, just a bit more rotor to absorb and disperse heat. If i was you, I would be concentrating your efforts on ducting (i should follow my own advice here) and some half decent pads. You may eventually have to bite the bullet once you wear out your semis and upgrade to 18" wheels, then you will have heaps of options. I will probably end up doing something more serious if I'm forced too. If only we could shed a few hundred kg off our cars, brakes wouldn't be such am issue. LOL. -

Nothing wrong with power fc. I had 1 running my S15 perfectly, I was looking for 1 for my 33 but couldn't find at the time, ended up with a 2nd hand adaptronic plug in for $800. Worked out well, flex tuned, no maf, closed loop boost control, 2 step, t/c and all that other wanky shit I won't need or use. Upgradeable soft and firmware that you don't need to pay for, unbelievably quick manufacturer support, I call that winning[emoji41] Edit. No bullshit expander boxes required either.
