  1. Nah compared to our 5 series. They have an excellent seating position. Nice and low. Long way back. Super comfortable. Ill actually be selling it in the next month or two because my wife stopped using the wagon.
  2. Ive got an XR6 T. Its not as good as i thought. seating position is way too high.
  3. Yep! You are bang on! Love those two. One problem with each. Ford, have the worst post sales service I've ever encountered (used to have an xr5 bought new). And the AMG I don't think has a manual.
  4. Agree on the new age exhausts. Cannot stand the way DSG gearboxes/engines sound! Im just saying, for my money, id be looking elsewhere. I like my hot hatches to be a little less bland and a little more boy racer.
  5. Am i the only one who thinks the Gti and R look soooo boring? It just seems like something an accountant who likes cars would buy.
  6. @emts, you don't hang around clifton hill / alphington at all do you? I saw a red 66 just the other night while i was out for a walk. The bloke came out and jumped into it as well so I got a look into the car. It looked mint.
  7. Ah thanks for that. Makes it a little clearer. Sometimes I oversimplify things in my mind (a lot if i'm completely honest). And yep. I was thinking that they may have cut the RAM out completely. So in a way we are thinking the same thing, only you call it RAM i'm calling HD. In my mind it would simplify the mb design by removing the entire RAM connectors and the circuits to each... I would have expected this would also improve the access to the HD as it wouldn't sit behind the RAM for access.
  8. I was under the impression ssd and ram were physically similar in construction. Im going to assume i am incorrect from your response...
  9. It looks huuuggggee. But those specs. Damn! Does it just use the ssd as its ram?
  10. Over 10 years becomes a real pain. You will need to try to find out who complied the car abd track them down to see if they have any details or paperwork. I managed to do this for a car iwas looking to buy. The bloke who complied it couldnt remember it and was no longer running the business. It took.me about a week of searching the internet to find who brought it in. I wad lucky though because someone had written about the car online a long time ago and in got most of my info from there.
  11. Good one. Glad you got that sorted out. Bonus points for showing how its done!
  12. Just a quick clarification from what i see in this diagram. 1. All the items between the Alternator and Battery are fusable links. Not fuses as such. 2. It doesn't look like "L" goes to ground as it doesn't have a connection it just disappears off to another diagram.
  13. If you take the door apart, you might be able to apply voltage to the window motor. I don't actually know how this is done, you would need to be sure of the voltage and current limits, but once you had this info, you could isolate the circuit and power it up. Thus giving you ability to wind your windows up without powering up the whole car. It's what I would be looking to do in this instance.
  14. Interesting... I wonder if the alternator was receiving a bad or unknown voltage. If it thought that the battery was low it would kick it hard to try and charge it up. Let me know what the auto shop comes back to you with. Even if they say they are both fine, it will be good to know because we can narrow the issue further. Good luck. Steve.
  15. Lurker here. Ive got one for you. I was battling DNS caching issues all f**king morning and getting pissed off when the project management team call me over. Hi Steve, can you help us turn this into a word document? You know what "it" was??? A f**kING WORD DOCUMENT!!! Are you f**king kidding right now? Am i on camera? You're messing with me! Nope three useless f**king people who couldn't save a word document!
  16. Ive been here on holidays (last Nov). Windiest road to no-where ive ever taken. Also i think i saw your car at Salamnca place in Hobart. I was so excited i took like 20 photos of your car in the car park. My wife just shook her head...
  17. Good article. I approve of the way you spend your time!
  18. This is the place to start (in my opinion). If this doesn't work then look into shielding the wiring of the dashcam (back to earth). Any spurious noise coming from the dashcam or associated parts may be ruining you reception.
  19. ^^ I don't think OP was having a go at you as the seller. I think it more towards letting people know so they are careful in the future. Re-reading this, i see your point. Also love your username.
  20. I used Ceva for the transport of my car between Perth and Melbourne. It had approx 2kms added to it. I used the premium service so it was all documented. I had no problems with them, although a friend who works in the transport industry did warn me of their reputation.
  21. You can get a new barrel and have it keyed to your car. As mentioned a locksmith should be able to do it. You can also get a full lock set, im just in this process now. It's similar as we have to buy the locks, install them and then have them keyed to match the original.
  22. Any update on your car? I saw your car while mine was being prepped for roadworthy, and then once it had been broken into... Did you take yours home in time for Christmas?
