I have a feeling those generic ones are for another car/colder climate 'adopted' for Skyline fans. OEM is best, even an old arse RB20 one haha.

A friend of mine put MCA blues on this EVO7 (from factory non-MR suspension). Can't remember the spring rates but they were quite "high" for the street. Comfort wise it was on par with the stocker suspension (I didn't spend much time driving his car before the change), body control was better. Damn thing was pretty comfortable (with 18" Hankook RS-3 tyres), especially with ripple control. Said friend thought it was too soft and should've went with the stiffer setup.

Story time, my stocker R31 (RB30E, clutch fan with straight blades) used to get hot sitting in traffic in summer, had to keep the revs around 3,000rpm to keep it from flaming up (would hear the fan moving a lot of air). Issue was a tiny crack in the factory plastic end tanks + lazy clutch fan hub (hence the revving while standing, changed fan to an R32 one, much quieter). Haven't had an issue since. OP mentioned he put a locked hub and temps were fine. I'd question this "brand new" hub.

Haven't seen an R33 one, but the R32 and R31 came with them as well. I have no knowledge of the R32 and R33 ones, but the R31 ones automatically folded up below a certain speed (came down after 70 km/h IIRC).
