HKS GT SS vs 2530's vs Trust T517Z's
XRATED replied to jezzrrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
he he he... The garretts are a pretty good choice.... I ran my T517Z's 7 years ago- they were the best option for me at the time. No graph. They may out perform on a dyno... but it's hard to argue with 138mph in a full weight r32. havn't seen many -5 cars run those sort of numbers on a stock motor in full trim? I don't like -5's the same as I don't like 'itard- Apple' products.... -
HKS GT SS vs 2530's vs Trust T517Z's
XRATED replied to jezzrrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah.... it was as hard as they would go on my set up. Stock head (drop in cams), stock exh manifolds, 98 and turns out a questionable exhaust. I'd take my t517z's over -5's any day. Only reason I took them off.... I upgraded to bigger twin 'truck' trust turbo's (td06 L2's)... Garrett sucks..... Trust is awesome! -
New 265's are mine... :-)

Nooooo................. Led's are going to cost you .0007 of a km per charge!

10spoke, carbon fiber Wed's.... and an over fender style blister kit.

I use a coolant system pressure tester to initially bleed my rb's.... Maybe for testing, just but short ball valves on your water lines.

Hks Rb25 Exhaust Manifold , Worth It ?

Sell it to Roy, sell it to Roy!!! -
This is one of the hardest strains you can put on your engine... I allways fitted egt monitoring for the standing mile and top speed events in the US when I was there. Might be somthing to look into Your basically going to do the equivilent of 1-2minutes of running your car at full load on a dyno. I'd be fattening up the tune to keep the egt's down. Think oil coolers, lot's of taping up cracks and gaps, and getting the car loow... getting less air going under the car. At 250k/h you can raise the car up and inch or two. I'd go into it with a full tank too, just to keep some weight into the ass end. If you have an aftermarket front bar, make sure it's secured by more than a couple of tech screws too.... anything going under the front wheels at speed isn't good. I just wish we had a long enough, flat piece of rd in Tas to be able to do 1000m sprints of standing mile racing..

R34 GTT Brake conversion... You might as well do oil and plugs while your at it... especially plugs before a tune. Gaskets (as above) and vac line. I'm interested to see how you go with the ss2 on a heavy stag. Cheers Justin PS... an ebc will only bring the boost on sooner if the actuator is 'blowing' open prematurely. it can't make the turbo spool any faster.

Is it too late for me to get one or two? Cheers Justin

Rule one... what ever you think it's going to cost- double it. Rule two... how ever long you think it will take tripple it. Stick with repairs and white paint... waaaay cheaper and waaaay quicker. Otherwise just sell the car and buy one in the colour you want. Brad at boost automotive will be your best bet up that way. BC coilovers are good for the money You won't need bigger injectors with the stock turbo... I would sugest installing a new fuel pump though (deatschwerks dw400 will drop straight in) Talk to the person who is going to tune the car before you go buying anything. Factory styles kits, the right stance and wheels allways looks better than lairy body kits and half arsed paint. As for a Easbear GTR conversion.... just buy a GTR- It'll cost less and you'll end up with a much better car. Cheers Justin

R33Gtr Vs R34Gtr Turbo Manifold Difference?
XRATED replied to drag-on silvia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I made just short of 400rwkw with T517Z's on pump fuel and stock 26.... manifolds were stock, not ported. in 2006. Saying that, I'd just get them match ported and coated... I wouldn't worry about extrude honing. The gain versus cost is all wrong. Spend that money on a better exhaust or intake/cooler pipes or cams etc. As a side point, i have some r34GTR N1 manifolds... they are a different casting and different material. Cheers Justin -
Thanks for the parts and support from members of the sau Tas community who helped out and got me to the track with AWD! Fkn epic day... everyone should sign up for the next one! Cheers Justin

Hey guys, Xrated was on the rollers wed night ready for a shakedown at the off street drag meeting at Basky.... Made a lazy 402rwkw for now (only just run in) so I'm super stoked! Massive thanks to Nick at GT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... anyhoo, I need to borrow an attessa control unit tonight for saturday (silver box under the rear parcel shelf, lhs) as mine is cooked (corrosion). If anyone can help, give me a buzz on . Cheers Justin

Beau, in honesty you have changed alot between tunes.. you will probably find that your idle issues are as much mechanical in nature as anything else. Do you still have your stock bov? is it plumbed in as standard? are you getting reverb back through the new intake causing map sensor spikes, is your tps set correctly? Nick can fix it for you, just don't expect a tune will be the solution... sounds like the tune needs a good looking over though. A turbo tech boost T is as reliable as you can get.... just don't buy any other type/brand of T. Again, Nich has them on the shelf. Cheers Justin
-
They're usually the two most time consuming things to get right... Idle issues could be almost anything and as for boost, I'd just install a turbotech boost T and solve all your issues all at once. What else did you change before the haltech install and initial tune? I'd be looking at pressure testing your intake and looking for leakes/split hoses and or missing vac lines.... clean your iac motor etc and making sure your intake is all sealed up properly. What's the idel doing? Cheers Justin
