Hi All, I'm hoping some of you can answer my non car related electrical questions. I have a large fish tank which needs power to some components 24/7. I've thrown around the idea of buying a generator in the past but the need to be on my property when power goes out threw that out the window. Now I'm thinking about a battery and trickle charger with an inverter in an attempt to ensure uninterrupted power for my pumps. So, in my head, I'm thinking this; 3 pumps in my tank that I need to run are about 200w total (thats about 60w bigger than actual, but I'd like to over estimate than under.) A 50AH deep cycle battery will run these pumps quite easily for 24hrs. A 300w inverter will allow 240v access to the batter. A good ol' trickle/maintenance charger will keep the battery charged. Power outage means that the fully charged battery will take over. Is that sane? Am I missing anything? It seems too easy. I guess the only thing I am really wondering about is maintaining the health of a battery when it is charged at 100% for 99% of the year. Should I make it work every month? Switch off the mains to it to force it to cycle? Would love any help. Thanks, Christian

Hi and welcome to Do you have a multimeter? What happens when you touch the bulb terminals with the points? Do you get any voltage? Have they ever worked? Can you unplug all except the 3rd light to test?

Poor bugger. Imagine how nice it would be if everybody selling a car was nice and trustworthy! Theres a few things to do but nothing in the list is huge (that I'm aware of). It will be a satisfying project if you can forgive yourself and let go of the grudge you're probably holding onto. The perfect time to learn how to fix cars! -
Welcome to @Steve Gee! Any more pics of your collection? Sounds nice!

Hi All, Its been a long time since I've needed to get window tinting done, but before I start struggling in summer I thought I'd get it done soon for the BMW. I'm keen to know who you guys have used recently. I'd probably prefer a mobile business unless they were near the city. Thanks all, C

I see. As I said, we've only just got "trucks" this year (they've been available as grey imports for a while) - this is the first time you can buy a Silverado new from a dealer (even if they start at $115k). https://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/chevrolet-silverado-australian-prices-revealed-117787 ?

Wait ... thats precisely what I said. 450kg?
-
Ok, so an American tonne is only 900kg. Which makes its payload capacity only 450kg! ? A newish Commodore Ute has a 650kg payload. Or, am I calculating this incorrectly?
-
Welcome American! I'm not necessarily a Ford guy, buy I do like that truck! Would that be considered full size? We've only started getting full size trucks in the last year or so.

Besides tax and death, there are some other unavoidable truths in life. 1. Some people will *always* disagree with you. You can't post publically on the internet and expect no arguments or disagreements. Sometimes it sucks but you can always take something from it. Don't listen to those who are flaming for flames sake, listen to those who provide constructive feedback. Its important to be able to distinguish the two. 2. No matter what Skyline you buy, you'll get lovers and haters. With those in mind, I'd give the bird ?to the haters and do what you want with it. But, just remember that you asked for feedback and feedback is what you got.

Nissan Crossover T-Boned and written off !

Theres a lot of liability on insurers to ensure they can fix to a standard. If you crashed or somebody was killed due to a poorly executed repair then they are in a lot of trouble. Interesting conundrum though. If you can get them to make it a repairable write off, you could buy it back to repair. Not sure its worth it though, can you import another one? -
