Swapping Out A Neo Engine For A Non Neo Engine
STATUS replied to Pr0x1mity's topic in Forced Induction Performance
neo NA motor turboed is a real good thing on e85. -
Results are always useful i just noticed the correction, wasn't sure if you knew about it or not. The DIN system uses a different equation, so it varies quite a bit.
-
not to be rude or nitpicking but that dyno is using din (american scale) which gives higher readings. should be on SAE2004.

Hks Pod Foam Has Disintegrated - Best Option?
STATUS replied to mikel's topic in Forced Induction Performance
email Australian auto accessories thy have the replacement foam instock. I use them on my own car. -
the bearing in these units are pretty extreme, we compared them to the best available turbocharger units and the hypergear ones are in another league. i cannot divulge the origins of Toa's bearing but they are very under stressed in a turbocharger application... they are originally designed for military aerospace applications and run at around $200-400 per unit... and there are multiple units per Hypergear turbo. im pretty sure tao was looking to find a suitable test car that sees plenty of circuit work to complete proof of concept. Again i am not endorsed or ever received anything from hypergear, im just excited about his new developments and i still believe this is the most interesting turbocharger to ever grace my shop.

your new vnt turbo has still got me flabbergasted.... i over layed it with john richo's r33 h/flow and they both make the same power @ 3000rpm.. If i hadnt seen the result for myself id call bullshit. 24psi and 0.82 lambda with 24 degrees (max) of ignition timing on e85 for those who wish to know the specifics. Vct switched off @5000rpm. On one run the vnt line came off the actuator and it nosed over hard (30-40rwkw loss) so i can 100% vouch for the difference it makes.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=467171293376355 not exactly a skyline but low boost and 2 x td06 l2's work a treat. Super conservative tune with only 13 degrees of timing.

tractor SR's are a long way from 4g63's though.

shimming was my first suggestion or 2-way / welding. It needs some cradle locks too as the tramp was bad enough to knock it out of gear on numerous occasions. i reckon a line lock would also allow better warm up burnout as the car labors too much in 2nd with the MT's i will wire up the clutch switch so we can dial in some retard on the line and produce a bit of boost..

dozens, did another last week...

Power Fc Boost Controller Kit Reviews
STATUS replied to chilzzi's topic in Forced Induction Performance
better off with another controller like blitz dsbc or greddy profec b unless the physical boost control hardware is going to be spot on (base spring rates, preload etc). Dont get me wrong the PFC one works well but is not flash when there is any deficiency physically... there are a few tricks in the software but it just doesn't have enough logic to match a stand alone unit. Any small physical deficiency in the boost control system cannot be rectified with PFC logic whereas a standalone will generally pull it back into check. -
STD 1988 laurel RB20 @ 19psi wont make anymore no matter what @ 19psi... @ 23psi today it made 245kw but id prefer to leave it at 19 psi... was hoping for 250 @ 19psi but impossible. the HKS GT2535 had alot more topend... but laggier. dont get me wrong area under the curve is great and it drives well, but car has full comp grip setup and 230-240kw is struggle town on new semis at drift days.

If Your're Familliar With The Rbs, Confirm Or Deny.
STATUS replied to sonicz's topic in Forced Induction Performance
use datascan to set base idle, if it still does it while its in the "set mode" its abnormal.... i see that timing fluctuation on a daily basis at idle... not abnormal just a few things new adjusting. -
Waste Gate On Standard Manifold Vs Waste Gate On Turbo
STATUS replied to r34unit's topic in Forced Induction Performance
i prefer it on the housing... its the bottle neck. -
TD05-18g on E85 struggle town... just too small.
-
its all good, i know what its like, i have a similar list of things i never get done just let me know in advance and we will do whatever we can to help out.
-
yeah, ooh and dont forget ID's love high base pressures.... its not uncommon to have 70-90psi base pressures even on NA cars.
