  1. Be very careful with your dwell and the D585 coils, we have been able to replicate in testing the "early" fire conditions many tuners have been experiencing.. with D585. By "early fire" i mean uncontrolled ignition advance.... which can lead to major engine damage. Keep your dwell tables safe and if possible use voltage and rpm modifiers.
  2. if your in vic let me know i have a few resistors here, if not jaycar should have the right one
  3. 5ms is really flirting with danger. 4.5 @1000rpm and 4.2 peak rpm at most is safest. At 5ms we noticed definite issues with some when ignition was strobed at a crank level. Factory coils are also dwell limited (updated factory calibration) for this reason.
  4. It's not an issueswapping between tge two fuels. If the car is tuned right it should be able to go from 70 to 90% ethanol without any damage even at a track on either 105 or 107 . It comes down to knowing what you are running % wise whilst tuning and factoring in possible changes.
  5. its more of an ecu thing. The injectors are fine. There are hundreds of ecus on the market and wolf is still the only ecu we refuse to touch.
  6. wheel spin can be trouble some for calculations... Unless it uses front sensors.
  7. Justin, ive found the knock box to be the most reliable as a full time tuning option as it can be quickly swapped fom engine to engine easily. The PLEX unit is awesome but is actually painful to use. It takes a long time to set up to get the same accuracy as the knock box, therefore we only use the PLEX system on big budget big HP setups where the customer is happy to pay for the extra time.
  8. the new elite is miles ahead, save your cash you wont be disappointed
  9. John what ecu? Try a set of BKR7eix @ 0.55mm for shits and giggles, nice clean idle and should hold close to 30-35psi with splitfires. If your concerned with the outlay try borrow some factory platinum and gap to 0.55mm and test for missfire (the heat range is no good but a few runs wont hurt) ive done back to back comparos with the eix @0.55mm and a set of coppers @ 0.8mm with ls coils and they were within 1-2kw at 420rwkw. we use coppers in most things but with ignition missfire prone cars we run the small gap irridiums.... you dont want to go as low (gap) with coppers as they dont idle or low load cruise as nice.
  10. In fact the Walbro pumps are prone to failure unless fitted correctly with a relay. Unfortunately many guys fit the pump without a relay and are lucky to get a year out of them.
  11. you can't always run Walbro pumps. We run 2x 044 in our track car and with this additive there have been no issues in 2years. We've been tuning E85 longer than most shops and found great results with a little additive.
  12. Should be no issues. 590 plus rwkw on 98 with water meth with no issues and 22000km.
  13. I have maps with it on and off and without it installed. Huge difference with it on.
  14. lol. 60ml per fill.... Hardy a bank breaker
  15. done something similar, the latest being Rowan (done all by ROWAN personally) pictured below. Its around 500-800rpm advantage, just use all NEO parts, head can be drilled in situ. https://www.facebook.com/ChequeredTuning/photos/pb.192234970820442.-2207520000.1411571701./756918454352088/?type=3&theater
  16. run a little e85 safe 2 stroke oil in with each tank to save your Bosch pumps. This is the shizzle here https://www.motul.com/system/product_descriptions/technical_data_sheets/136/original/Micro%202T_GB.pdf?1290086772
  17. should add the listing i linked to are infact genuine GM not copies. The non genuine ones are nowhere near as good and we have had missfires with as little as 0.6mm plug gap.
  18. yup stay away from the metal heat sink ones if possible i had a few come in from other places with detonation issues and it was because they were tuned with too much dwell.... its a documented fact they have cost guys engines. we always recommend running the; C1512 D514A OEM part 12573190 and are able to run low dwell and up to 1.5mm gaps with boost. If you do choose to run with the inferior truck ones just make sure you keep the dwell in check. Cut and paste from my nistune post The Coils to get are: C1512 D514A OEM part 12573190 These are all part numbers for the same denso coil. Lots of testing has been done on all the variants and this one does not false fire (effectively uncontrolled added advance) at higher dwell levels like the others. There are plenty of documented engine losses due to this artificial advance (sometimes upto 20 degrees) They retail at $280 for 8 so you will have 4 or 2 left over either way. We have made over 1000rwhp with them and they are ultra reliable. We just finished a GTR with nistune and had no issues at around 500rwkw with these coils and modified nistune dwell settings. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CHEV-LS2-LS3 ... add&_uhb=1
  19. wire mac valve to std boost controller wiring and same with 02 sensor. Run brown wire to 02 signal wire and and just select innovate in drop down menu instead of oem narrowband.
  20. powerfc works mint with auto R33, done about a dozen
  21. Just fit VCT, its a piece of piss and worth its weight in gold low and mid torque / power wise.
  22. Ive been using this system for awhile now. But havent seen much press on it. but today i came across this great spiel on it from high performance academy..
  23. timing should not be tapering down with increase in rpm..should do opposite.. more advance with rpm. you may need to pipe the timing down bit to start then ramp it in.
