  1. Much better but wont happen
  2. Things you shouldnt say in a public forum
  3. Are you just chasing sizing on the bolts to confirm they are for neo? If thats the case, im suprised that ARP cant tell you. Perhaps getting in contact with an engine builder who does alot of RB engines can help Otherwise you could probably just dummy fit the head with 2 studs in and see how they fit and make sure the nut has enough thread to clamp the head to the block Also with the link G4, if you have a 2.5bar map sensor then it maxes out at 1.5bar of boost. Not sure if its an issue but keep in mind that the 2.5 bar is absolute pressure not gauge pressure
  4. Do the 20 pumps flow as much as a 25 pump (if thats what your putting it on) Dont know if they are internally different at all but you dont want a pump that flows less oil
  5. Nose looks ok on the FI. but too early to tell
  6. I meant the heat affecting the silicone/rubber hose rather then the clamp. It's probably not an issue but theres always a chance My old clamps were a bit better then the ones I have now, they were a bit thinner but still the same design OLD: NEW: Realisticly as long as the joiners and pipework are nice and clean then you shouldnt have to many issues. I just like the T-bolt clamps because they grip a bit tighter. I have stainless pipes so distorting the pipework isnt a big issue for me
  7. What about the heat when spot welding the clamps like above? Sorry but I think thats a bit overkill. My clamps have held 30psi no problems and only half my pipes have beads on them.
  8. Could be more to do with the car then the turbo e.g. could be exhaust back pressure problem My SS2 tapers off up top with ext gate, its only 2psi max, but We think it is probably something in the exhaust. Havent looked into it yet, its not really an issue for me at the moment lol
  9. Are you saying that you put 2 clamps in then weld parts of a 3rd clamp between the existing 2? if so..... why?
  10. I'm sure I read that they were supposed to announce their new title sponsor in december, but that never happened. Maybe something fell through due to their crappy season
  11. Yeah its a bit odd so something like that is a pretty likely to be the problem. Unplugged the solenoid before and didnt change anything. I thought it might fail to full power steering assist but must go the other way. Will try and look at the loom but I have it all wrapped in heat wrap so might be a bit of a pain lol. GTSBoy: Do you have any more info on your problem? I've cut the plug for my 02 sensor out because I'm only running the wideband with the Link. Nothing looks to obvious around the plug (PS Rack), and its hard without a good wiring schematic of that part of the car. Can find plenty on the engine but none on that I assume it runs to the HICAS computer, but without knowing what Pins it goes to I can't really do any continuity checks between the plug and HICAS computer I'll have a general look around the wiring and see if I can find anything in the mean time
  12. I'm actually just about to do that Power steering worked fine today for the first 3 startups then back to nothing again. Strange. I will unplug the solenoid and see what happens
  13. I heard some guys talking about my car once 'ohhhhh look at that STI!' 'yeahhh...... oh nah I think thats a GTR' GTS-t fooling the world
  14. Yeah it operates the solenoid with PWM, but I think it might control this through ground not power. Can't remember off the top of my head
  15. It is a good idea to disconnect the ignitor or coil packs and crank the engine a bit to get oil through it. Remember not to continuously crank it for too long or you will fry the starter. 20 seconds on and 20 seconds off is fairly safe My cooler is setup nearly exactly the same as John's. I havent seen that bracket on many 33's. I had to drill a hole in my carbon cooling panel for the top stud/nut so not really sure if this is standard or what
  16. I dont expect Williams to be front running this year. Fair enough they know alot about the KERS/ERS technology, but there are alot of smart minds at the other teams. Aero is and has been where its at. This year they will need to find even more loop holes to get that little bit extra out of the car. I have nothing against Williams, but I don't expect them to bounce back TOO much this year. 2015 might be more their year
  17. I found a genuine driveshaft for an R33 on amayama, so looks like they still make them Bad news...... Its listed as $960 each......
  18. You have to turn it on or ot doesnt work. I had one and was driving with just a line to the wastegate once with the solenoid off. Then plugged it all back in and forgot to turn it on and ran 25psi of boost or something like that You have to use the hand controller or computer software to turn it on. The hand controller makes it much easier to alter the boost settings to set it up to because it takes a bit of playing around to get it right
  19. Have you measured the comp ratio or just going off the pistons? The deck height and head gasket will make a difference in what the actual CR is compared to what it says on the box for the pistons
  20. Have a weird problem with my car at the moment, and everything I can find seems to have to do with HICAS, I dont think its the issue on my car Anyway, car is an R33 GTS-t, put a HICAS lock bar in it probably 2 years ago, hadn't had an issue since I put it in. Just did the usual unplug the HICAS bulb to stop it. But anyway, car drove fine, steering normal etc So late last year I pulled my engine out to change the engine, put the new engine back in, started having problems with Power steering being heavy every now and then. Then all of a sudden it was fine, worked good. Took the car to my tuner, was working on the way out, and then when I got it back the steering is heavy again. He told me the steering was heavy the whole time he was tuning it, so don't believe it was anything he has done. Now the funny part. Everytime I drive the car first up, the steering works perfect, no matter how long I drive for. As soon as I turn the car off then go to drive it again, no power steering. It has plenty of fluid, and the fact that the steering works fine on the first startup makes me think its not pump or fluid related. It looks like the solenoid in the rack that (as far as I know) changes the power steering assist depending on speed is having some sort of problem. Does anyone have a better idea of how this system works? I had a quick look yesterday and the plug and wires seem alright. has anyone had this issue before?
  21. Mine is ext gate with the wastegate off the turbine housing, works well, it just gets a bit tight there. But if you are on stock manifold the wastegate can probably point straight up which will make it easy. Mine has a 6boost low mount manifold, which is a bit of a headache when trying to fit everything in there lol 8:1 is rather low... mine is 8.9:1
  22. I dont think the GTR bonnet will sit right on the S2. From what I've read the GTR bonnet looks nice on the Series 1's but because of the different front on the series 2 it wont look as good, there will be gaps etc If you have the bonnet, just put it on with the standard bonnet hardware and see what it looks like. You might find there is a large gap where the grill is (you say headlights arent an issue, but there might also be a funny gap there)
  23. Is that me? I actually have to ask Stao about the turbo, because it was a bit of a prototype turbo when I first got it and then it was sent back and modded with billet wheel and different comp cover. So it might be a slightly larger SS2, I'm not real sure. Also my tuner seems to think its easily over 300rwkw and probably around 320 or slightly more. (Mine is ext gate + 256 poncams) So I'll have to talk to stao about it, but for OP the thing feels amazing. It's laggier then my HKS 2835 for sure but that is a much smaller turbo Having not had much experience with the precision turbos, I'm not going to bag them or say they are awesome. But can say I'm very happy with the Hypergear and the customer service you get from Stao puts the icing on the cake for me. Having come from the HKS turbo that didnt perform as planned, and then getting no support at all for it, one of the big things with my new setup was getting a turbo with good customer support This is mine FYI:
  24. It feels rediculous to me, easily spins the 265s on the rear in 2nd and can keep it going through 3rd. My tuner said he had a hard time smooting the boost because it was so aggressive lol.... love it so far. Going to see if i can get it on a dyno before I go back to work wednesday but may not happen between now and then
  25. Back from tuning, gave it a quick detail. Just have to get rid of the couple of blue things in the engine bay, nearly done
