  1. Interesting reading, regarding people's worry that their Insurance won't end up meaning anything come time to claim. This always worried me also. I had my GTR insured with RACV vintage veteran classic when everyone was doing that around 10 years ago. For the first few years my premium was $300-$350 odd for the year, bear in mind originally the car was only insured for $18k (what i paid for it). after a year or 2 i had increased the value to $25k and then they announced that they weren't insuring skylines anymore and that you couldn't increase the values of existing policies. At first when the values were <45k i wasn't worried and was just happy to have cheap premiums. When i put the car on club plates i called them to let them know and they told me the price of my premium would reduce, (policy was due for renewal the following month) when i got my renewal notice i was stunned to see my premium had gone down to $82 for the year! i read through all the documents and everything seemed fine. I figured it was just some random error that would get picked up on the next renewal, but come time for the next renewal there was an increase.....of around $4 for the year 🤣 this went on year upon year, the increases ramped up a little but come 2025 my premium was still only $130. Every year come renewal i would debate whether or not I should go elsewhere and insure the car for it's correct value (around $60k in today's market i would say) but given the low risk (car only does 1000-1500Km per year, and always out of the city) plus the fact as talked about above that they would probably try a wriggle out of any claim anyway I stayed with the cheap premium. My main concerns were as above - 'illegal' mods, nothing major just the usual - turbo's, ECU etc.. Christmas eve (last year) I got up early to go for a drive out in the Yarra Valley, past Healsville, conditions were shit, fog, wet, tree debris on the roads, i decided to head for home and after accelerating past a 4wd who pulled over to let me past in the Black Spur i lost it and ended up sliding into a bank. (If anyone here is on the FB group you will have seen my pictures). Anyway long story short, I had prepared myself that insurance wasn't going to give me anything, but they paid out with no fuss and as the car was over 35 years old (literally by 1 month!) I got to keep the car for free!! Sold the car for $17.5k which went some way towards making me feel better about the under-insurance. Had another claim with RACV 5 years ago when some dickhead crashed into two of my cars writing both of them off out on the street in front of my house. He had no insurance and gave us an old license with a different address on it. One car had full comp so was fine but my runabout N14 Pulsar only had third party, however I put in a claim under the 'Uninsured motorist extension' part of their policy, not expecting much....they paid me out more than twice what i had paid for the car in the first place, plus i got to keep the car, It only required some DIY panel beating on the drivers door to get it to shut properly again and some suspension adjustment to counter the hectic negative camber that had been introduced on the rear. Have been driving ever since with no problems! So there you go, Insurance sometimes works out!! I have to say it puts me off getting another Skyline (as the next one would be more modified for sure) worrying about whether or not all the money going towards insurance is actually going to be of use come claim time, wondering if i should just buy a stock M2/M4 and be done with it......
  2. Ever see that MCM video when they drove the corolla with no oil to see how long it would last......couldn't believe how long it went and that was giving it the beans too! I'm happy for you anyway man, sounds like you might have gotten lucky
  3. You obviously know nothing about the Yaris GR
  4. That's interesting.....not something i have seen before so i can't shed any light on the subject. What type of subaru is it? If you find out can you let us know.....
  5. Prices for parts seem ok, i can't remember how much i paid for mine but they weren't cheap, my labor to change all 4 was only 3 hours @99 p/h!
  6. +1 Turbotech I never had any issues setting it
  7. I'm terrible at making cars look as good as they do in real life in photos
  8. Yeah i was talking about side intrusion bars, pretty sure mine doesn't have any such modifications, i was under the impression it was imported under the 15 year rule, but i thought that meant no compliance had been carried out? You probably know more than me having owned both an early and a late model. I have no idea how much mine weighs, but my point was more that i quite like having a early 'original' model, especially compared to ones that have had side indicators stuck on.
  9. In some ways earlier is better. I like the fact that I have a 'lightweight' first edition with no aussie compliance bullshi*
  10. Hi Robyn Just sent you an e-mail regarding my membership. Paid middle of last month, still waiting to hear anything. Thanks
  11. Hey I earned my working climate control system.........by fixing everything that was not working and It's stayed good for 4 and a half years now so there is hope for you too!
  12. Yeah it's a common issue with 32's. I'm lucky I have a 'rare' one where everything works...?
  13. Yeah absolutely, (this is assuming Gtr and Gts-t are the same) but it's just on the right hand side of the passenger footwell (up under the dash a little), After i fixed the thing that diverts the air to different areas (because that also wasn't working when i got the car) i actually ended up disconnecting it again as the climate control deciding where it wants to direct the air by itself as you change the temperature was pissing me off so much. Now i just reach under the dash (can be done while driving, as this one is in a similar position but on drivers side) and manually shift it to windscreen or face, slightly less convenient but way less annoying
  14. Out of curiosity how did you get the other part of the canister off the car? I also had the unscrewing in half problem (although i realised before I completely unscrewed it) which i thought would be pretty dangerous if the canister actually had pressure in it, why wouldn't you make it a left hand thread if it had to be 2 piece, anyway I machined up a giant socket to remove the whole thing as one piece
  15. As a temporary fix so you don't have to drive around with hot air coming out just disconnect the Blend door motor from rod that connects it to the door (passenger side footwell), then you can just operate the door manually to be on hot or cold or anywhere in-between. I did this for awhile and basically ran a summer setting and a winter setting.
  16. Finally received my renewal notice, just a casual 20% increase. Pretending i knew nothing I called them up to get an explanation as to why this was so, they told me what i already knew (from this thread). Apparently they don't consider skylines to be classic anymore, Unfortunately there was no negotiating to be done, pretty average..........
  17. Are we able to reclaim names from users who haven't been here in ages, like since 2005?
  18. This isn't my car, but here is an example of one sticking out: note how the boot touches the ram part of the slave cylinder now here is a example of boot going in: now your going to say, well of course it's the second photo look how much better that is, but there just seems to be alot of sticky out boots out there (50% going by the pictures i could find).
  19. Hey guys, my R32 never had a clutch fork boot, i i finally got round to putting one in..........I assumed like most others i have seen that the boot protruded outwards from the bellhousing, however when i installed it like this it just didn't look right (to my eyes anyway) so i had a look around and in pretty much 50% of the pictures i could find it's sticking out and the other 50% it's facing inwards. I turned it around and inwards definitely seems better, but can someone who knows for sure, or has a mint unmolested GTR have a look for me and let me know...i just want it to be right........ Thanks
  20. I know nothing about MV Auto, but if you contacted them this week I would say they just want to get to wrap up the year and get off to Christmas. Give them a go in the new year, and if you can, call rather than e-mail/internet
  21. If i jack my car up all 4 wheels off the ground and flick the switch on my 4wd controller to 2wd (same as pulling the fuse) I still get some front wheel rotation however nothing on the torque split gauge and you can grab the front wheels and hold them stationary. flick the switch back to 4wd however and as soon as the clutch it let out torque gauge will show some reading and front wheels won't let themselves be stopped. My Guess is your 4wd isn't engaging at all, hence the light being on on the dash.
  22. Ok had abit more time while at work lol, think i answered my own question; it is just there to keep fuel in the line so that car starts quicker..........car never had a problem without it so it will be fine............ Please chime in to correct me if i'm wrong.
  23. Regulator thing on fuel pump Hey all, i'm putting a new fuel pump into my r32, my question relates to the thing that looks like a fuel pressure regulator that sits in the tank with the pump. My car already had a Bosch 044 installed and this regulator thing was missing, i'm putting in a Walbro, what does this regulator do, and does it matter that i haven't got one??? Car never had any problems with the way it was setup with the 044 Thanks in advance.
