NM35 VQ25DET

Factory ECU/Turbo etc.

Only mods: Aftermarket exhaust muffler, Blitz Panel filter and 'power duct'. New plugs etc.

Update to fuel economy:

Lowest to date: 9.54L/100K (Driving to Adelaide)

Highest to date: 15.20L/100K (repeatedly driving to work during peak hour damn it)

Most K's to a tank (or close to) 683

Avg economy 11.5L/100K

That's pretty good economy!

Haven't posted in here for a while, but reset my economy screen and travel info screen 2 and a bit weeks ago.

Over the past 1300kms, average fuel is now 9.9km/L and average speed is 52kph

What sort of driving do you do for that kind of economy?

cam lives in the wild...so its lots of freeway driving for him ;p

Fair bit of hwy (about 80% of my daily trip), but as it is my day-to-day drive I also have school zones and have to go up/down/up/down the Mt Eliza hills (let alone battle the shit drivers that seem to live there).... but also a fair bit of driving in the Frankston area.

lol @ "in the wild" Jethro.

Wouldn't have it any other way, although I do seem to get a lot more speeding fines :/

I've noticed since buying the car that the economy has been getting worse and worse!

Started off around 450-500 a tank (driving from Melbourne to Sydney)

Then it was hovering around the 350km mark, and now this tank is looking to be around the 200km mark!

I haven't driven much different since, I give it a bit of a boot from time to time but if anything I've been babying it with this tank.

all it has is an airfilter and nismo option exhaust, boost is stock.

I've ordered an 02 sensor in hopes that it's the problem, but knowing my luck it won't be.

Any ideas?

if it isnt your 02, it may also be your Air flow meter..

How many liters mate, is that 60? 70? 79.9? :P

well last night i filled up i think 68-70 Litres, and it was at 315km..

so assuming theres another 10litres and about 15 to 30kms in it..

lol sorry didnt mention that..

being on Flex, i dont usually let it get to the light.. as its not "around the corner"

but as its running rich.. once i fix the boost issue and get a controller on there.. i think i should get atleast 400km ot of it :)

better than having 250km on 98 like i was pre tune lol

Man.. your economy sux.. :P

At the moment I can get 14.2L/100km (460km) with about 10 liters left in the tank on crappy stop start city driving. Usually get around 10.2L on the open road.

mines on eflex.. and also tuned with heaps of mods.

lol.

i'de rather get 350km compared to 450km

with 285 kw compared to 160kw lol

Please quote your usage in litres per hundred km as km per tank is too imprecise! (But something is very wrong)...What car do you have (C34? S1 , S2? VQ?)

Sorry,

Looks to be around the 19-20L/100km and beyond :(

I have a C34 Series 1.

Apparently the coolant temp sensor can effect fuel consumption too, anyone had this issue before?

hmm I'm getting 18L p/100km on LPG...have to refuel every 200km :yucky:

But its not all bad...with 250awkw and paying $20 to fill up the LPG I cant complain too much :glare:

That is rubbish economy mate, what do you get if you do the same driving on 98 (I believe you have a switch so you can manually select the fuel you are using, yes?)

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
