BEER BARON!!!!!!

the pictures are MAD keep it up!

how do you know about events that are happening around japan? EG: drifting, nismo fest, time attacks.

is there a book / web site that will tell you dates?

cause i really want to go to japan, an see all of that stuff

PS how did you get access to the pits and on the grid, at the NISMO FEST?

Awesome pics. Don't know how you managed to get access to all of these areas but i am jealous.

Is it just me or on the GT500 RB26 engine, have they ground all of the webbing off the side of the block to save weight? Could be wrong but sure looks like it.

Excuse my ignorance, maybe Nissan Motorsport makes a race series engine block?

once again cool pics

Hi mate, glad you enjoy the pics. well most of the stuff I hear about through friends in japan. Laurence (on this forum) has a website which has a calendar of events in japan too. it's in the japan section in the stickys.

pit access and grid access was because I was there as media.

yeah they have a special GT block. different to the other RB26 blocks. :domokun:

hurry up, we want more pictures!!!!!!!!

lol! don't worry.tomorrow plenty more. I'm only just about half way through the nismo festival pics, and I only upload about 1 in 10! otherwise it would take me forever.

when i go next year i'm meeting up with you so you can show me all these places

This car was palked in a closed pit garage right at the start of pit straight. It belongs to the chief designer of the R35 GTR. Looks nice in red, but the paint quality is terrible. lots of peel etc. the few other GTRs I looked at were the same too which is a bit dissapointing. Nice number plate though

Check out was was in a cage next to it! with a cover on that was ever so tantalising slighty askew. After I took these photos a nismo staff member hurried us out, then set a permanent guard up at the cage! lol.

Now to the stuff that was up for grabs. there was lots of bits from nismo GT cars. Guards going out the door from about $150. Bonnets for between $300 and $600. Wheels from about $150 to $250+, bumpers from about $100 up, even windscreens etc. If I had a truck I probably would have bought the lot.

this was a fairly special Z parked out in the paddock. 350Z RS. apparently has a 3.8l engine. nice.

img6116vw5.jpg

A pair of super tough looking Z GT cars.

img6117cd4.jpg

img6118np9.jpg

Some old school cool.

img6130pc9.jpg

Genuine Nismo GTR 400R. not bad at all.

img6133wa8.jpg

and of course it wouldn't be a nismo show without a Z-tune. God I love it.

img6140wz5.jpg

and of course this car need no introduction whatsoever. very nice indeed.

Mines had a Z there too which looked pretty cool.

Check out the size of this clutch. It's an AP forumla 1 clutch. Carbon fibre, quad plate. a measly 4 or 5 inches in diameter and it weighed practically nothing. he said it was 15 years old and cost nearly 1 million yen to make. he said I could but if quite cheaply if I wanted to. To the left of pic they are selling Titanium Group A GTR brake pistons. $100 each.

img6151ui9.jpg

img6153wf7.jpg

Carbon fibre brake disk for Group A GTRs. AP made these for the group a GTRs, but then carbon disks were outlawed so they couldn't use them. d'oh! He offered to sell me it too. lol. it weighs nothing. very cool.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
