I really don't get how you think she is hot, she is the most average looking girl that i wouldn't look twice at.

ok name another female that can drive as well, has as much enthusiasm for serious driving and does decent times in a racing truck in one day.... you gotta look at the whole package.

They could of put it up against something else at the track, or timed it at showed it against other cars times in its range, or even raced it against that R33 GTR they had at the start - what was the freaking point of showing that R33 GTR at the start?!?

I thought teh review was good. Not to mention that its a private owners vehicle, not a media/press car so can understand why they were not racing it against other cars or giving it even more of a hiding then they did.

So all things considered i thought Plato did a good job. He gives more insight to how the cars drive then any of the Top Gear guys who are not as impartial.

i think i liked the review from the hairy bearded guy @ car magazine better (other uk video) up against the m3 and gt3

but can understand. not sure about the understeer comment tho

will have to wait and see when i am a rich f**ker with loads of papers

yeah I never knew the universally accepted measure of forces was 'torques'. thanks clarkson you spanner head.

also, I just read it will be jason plato driving the R35 on 5th gear. bummer :) I would really have liked to see what Tiff thought of it.

To a person without google this means nothing, similarly the use of newtons x meters is of little use to most people who are interested in cars, let alone those who aren't (excluding anyone who actually does need to know the amount of torque of something precisely). Language is a tool of understanding, necessity is the requirement to be precise, Clarkson walks the tight rope rather well compared to the majority of car reviewers in this and past decades. He is rich and successful because of the information he provides and the information he doesn't provide.

But yeah, tiff gets overwhelmed by his enthusiasm to the point that he forgets to demonstrate where the enthusiasm really comes from (ergo.. wow this car is just great, it's so good, it does things I like, wow you should have one). Clarkson shows exactly where his enthusiasm comes from with anecdote, estimation, and interesting demonstrations (ergo.. watch what happens when I do this! WOOOW! If I do this, that falls off! What a heap of junk.. etc etc etc). If I was betting on a race I'd pick Tiff, if I was betting on who presents the most information about cars to the most people I'd pick Clarkson.

I believe ergo is latin for therefore / hence ... it is used to demonstrate a logical conclusion, not to provide an example.

My point was simply that if someone can understand the concept of torque then they can probably get their head around the fact that it is measured in Newton metres, ie a force times a distance. Inventing a new unit of measurement (ie torques) helps no one and sounds profoundly stupid to boot. If he wants to talk about torque in the general sense he needn't invoke its units of measurement, real or imagined.

Language is a tool of understanding, so why not use it as such instead of just making shit up? It leaves those that do understand thinking of him as a twat & those that don't no better off.

Anyway as has been said Top Gear isn't really a car show. It is more just a bunch of blokes carrying on like dickheads. Which is to be applauded.

then why say: "400 torques"? that makes no sense. could be foot pound, could be newton metres, could be anything. so are you ok with it if he starts saying: "this car has a whopping 350 powers". what does that mean? kw? hp? I can understand if he wants common appeal just say: "this car has loads of torque" but to be honest he's just trying to be a tool.

don't get me wrong, jeremey is good too, but that f*king 'torques' bullshit is as dumb as it gets.

He is overwhelmed by the car therefore/hence/ergo he doesn't make himself clear in his explanations as in "wow.. etc". Sorry that wasn't made clear.

and to BB, my point is that it doesn't really matter does it? If he makes a big deal about torque, people will think that's a good thing, his use of actual figures is more of a mockery of the irrelevancy of units in that situation, than anything else as far as I can see. Most people that watch the show have never, will never, own that car and nor will comparisons of torques be much more than that they are particularly noticeable or not. Any referal to torque is usually and should usually be shut down, because it is a distribution not a singularity and is therefore very easy to be misleading. 100 torque at 800 RPM, omg what an awesome muscle car!!! Only 10 torque at 10000 RPM what a stupid rice burner!

For those that don't want to download the torrent.

I would prefer a Top Gear review as well....watching this I was like "meh".....the Fifth Gear story did nothing at all to excite me about it apart from I already love the R35 GTR.....Top Gear FTW!!!

Cheers!

I can bet any money that jeremy will not like this car that much, he will say its great but will let it down saying its too much of PS3 on wheels ....

as much as i like watching topgear ..he is very bias towards british and european cars...

i read a review on the top gear website and the reviewer (clarkson i think?) absolutely loved it....im sure he will like the car man..clarkson is not Euro car bias btw..watch enough episodes from the history of topgear and ull see he has his reasons...

look for me, the oNLY thing u can say "i dont like this" about the GTR is its looks. and thats purely subjective. i dont think its the prettiest car but its not supposed to be, its supposed to look mean. everything else about the car - performance, handling, drivability seems to be excellent...so i dont think hell knock it too much..

Clarkson loved all all the old Godzillas. There is no reason why the R35 should be any different. Its faster, built better, handles better, light years ahead in technology and is priced similiarly (taking inflation into account).

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
