I loved the radio call to Hamilton when they said " can you take it easy on the front brakes" (or something to that effect) and Hamilton's reply.... "what, am I here to race them or just circulate" (sorry, probably got the quote wrong but the sentiment is right).

Gold

Yep, seems every race there is at least one whinging, whining radio transmission from Homo... usually about tyres though lol.

He is damn quick, but doesn't seem to realise that car "management" is a major part or racing

me too. I was shitting my pants for pretty much the whole thing. I couldn't believe it when there was a crash meters in front of mark 3 laps from the end! He was just unstoppable today. his usual bad luck would have seen those 2 cars completely block his path and cause him to stall it and then see seb fly past somehow. but not on this day.

My feelings exactly. Seems like whenever we watch Webber trying to come good on a massive opportunity, it's almost like watching the movie Final Destination - his Murphy's Law luck seems to be a malevolent force trying to stuff him up at every turn...

Yeah I didn't think much of him after an earlier round this year (forget which one?) when just a few laps from the end with Button having nailed the race, Hamo said something like "that was totally the wrong strategy guys... why did you bring me in???" top teamwork

Good point raised about how some of the new blood are so priviliged to start with one of the teams at the top of the leaderboard. Mark started off with Minardi and has rarely had a decent car between then and now.

I think he's finally killed off that black cat. You can only be unlucky for so long.

Meanwhile all the self imposed pressure that Webz used to put himself under seems gone. He seems to realise that it may have been negatively impacting his driving...but at the moment he is comfortable, confident and enjoying it. I was shocked after he binned it in Aus how he didnt seem to be talking about missed opportuity...he just moved on!>!> Not the Webber i remember who normalky pines over spilt milk....but now seems to be looking onwards and upwards

It's been noted before that winning your first race gives you a massive confidence boost. The difference now is that I think Mark is finally seeing himself not only as a race winner, but a potential champion. Even last year I don't think he felt that.

stuff up of the day has to go to Button's team. Can't believe they left the duct cover on the car.

Thats something you'd expect in under 9's go kart racing not F1

no question...

... although maybe they are actually waaay ahead of the curve and decided to try for less drag from one side of the car :)

"The FIA stewards, which included his old sparring partner Damon Hill, have deemed the German breached Article 40.13 of the Sporting Regulations, which states that “if the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pit lane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."

Yes, article 40.13 makes for such exciting racing... :) It's almost as if the FIA want each race to be a parade.

Ross Brawn's rebuttal here:

I agree with Brawn. The notification was "safety car in this lap". Safety car pulled in, green flags were shown. There's nothing in 40.13 that says if it's the last lap. The safety car was not deployed, it was pulled in on the last lap ergo it's normal racing conditions and Alonso (although full points for a great recovery) can suck it.

yeah I think there is no question schumacher did 100% the right thing. the safety car was IN and racing resumes once you hit that lane as per the rules. he passed alonso just after they went over the line therefore the move was 100% made under 'race conditions' and in that context completely legal. at no point did race control state "we are brining the safety car in at the end of the final lap so mark can hoon over the line but in actual fact this will be considered a safety car finish even though it clearly isn't so please, no body pass anybody".... had they explained that situation things would have been different but as a driver when you see you are on lap 78/78, the safety car lights go out, you know the SC pits in before the start finish line and there is a control line after which you are racing you would then be thinking, well we are racing from that line to the start finish line. anything goes in that few hundred meters as per normal race conditions.

it's pretty shit actually. MS deserved that 6th place finish, just like dirty sanchez deserved his 7th place.

I agree with Ross and he has the evidence to back it up,

Green flags would not be out should the race be finishing under SC conditions regardless if SC is out on track or not...

I blame you Damon Hill...... Long haired hippie!

Rich as ever, correct!

And think back to China where Seb struggled with setup until followings Marks setup and finding the speed and confidence in the car. Then the last two races it seems Webbers pace has been superior. Perhaps the RBR updates are proving a little difficult for Seb to get his head around...whilst fall right into the sweetsport for Webz?

We can only hope Bris. Definitely was the race of his career. Was fantastic to watch, even though the race was a little processional. I just hope he keeps handing it to Seb, because he is already burning up inside that the old man is quicker, yet can't freely admit it.

I enjoy seeing Vettel brimming with frustration at post race interviews after he has been thoroughly out driven by his team mate.

You can almost see the smoke coming out his ears!!!

Go Webber!!!

BTW- Where's TALBO these days. Been abit quiet now that Webz is finding form!!

*click*

right- Just got off the phone to Whitmarsh, and he and the team have promised to sort their sh!t and deliver a faultless weekend in the sphincter of the universe with another 1|2 finish.

I told him I didn't want to have to exercise my pimp-hand; He agreed that would be bad and gauranteed excellent results for the remainder of 2010

* And then Sh@un woke up with his boyfriends love spire in his hand and not the phone to Whitmarsh like he was dreaming about!

I think you should PIMP Hand the Hack that left the Bung in the radiator!

But it did bring LOLs to the couch whilst watching Jenson burn up...........

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
