I wonder what Cliff is up to now..... running a muck on the mean streets of Lisboa I am guessing, he did learn from the best on that trip.

I still have a bit to do looking forward to getting back working on it. I am just going to hook up the Defi guages I have for monitoring for now - its a bit street racer but hey it tells me when things are good / bad and the buzzers will get my attention.

Also need to sort brakes out, finish off a few things, and have also somewhat overlooked managing heat so want to do some stuff with that.

I was quite tempted by an S6 RX7 roller that came up recently, not sure why but always loved the look of those things.

Picked the car up yesterday. Unfortunately I wasn't able to drive it due to a leaky brake line I grabbed from wreckers as a temporary measure.

Dyno chart shows normal tune (032) and against the final tune (039) after backing it off a bit for the track.

The final tune against boost. Still sitting slightly under 20psi so the motor is definitely a good thing for what it is making on 98. Chris said the way it ramps onto boost is ideal as well rather than an initial spike which engines don't like.

Just another gratuitous shot.

Hey Paul

she looks fantastic mate. She is almost like a twin to my beast. I am still waiting on the new motor for mine. No idea where its at as the crank shaft was delayed.

330kW looks great. my other engine was running 309kW before it popped. I thought 309 was awesome power......

We will have to meet up at a track day in melbourne when I get my engine back.

Cheers Evan for sure! Replaced the leaky brake line yesterday and took it for the maiden voyage - temp permit all legal of course. Lot's of fun up to 80km/h - looking forward to giving it a hiding on the track that's for sure.

Super fun happy time!!!!!!! :action-smiley-069:

Where rotors at..........?????? Size...

So so so keen to see this in the flesh Paul

Ha! I have about 5 pairs of ex v8 supercar rotors waiting in the wings from before this damn car of the future stuff where they changed the diameter to ~395mm.

They are 375mm x 36mm when new - you could get them down here second hand for ~$200-$300 / pair but supply has dried up (I took everything they had left!). I have a few pairs that are virtually brand new with half a mm of wear - from test days or something.

I already have the working setup on my 34, just need to get new hats and dog bones made up. Before I do that I am going to swap the setup over, but using these calipers and make sure it all works happily before we go getting drawings made up and CNC machines out.

What brakes are coming off the car?

Just a pair of stocky Sumitomo's on loan with makeshift brake lines!

Rears are standard as well at the moment but recently rebuilt with good pads, slotted rotors and lines, they may stay put as silly as they look. My advisers tell me that they may do the job better than an aftermarket kit so I am out to test that notion.

What a fantastic build! I'm loving your attention to detail :-). I'm doing a 32gtr build myself. I'm wondering what oil pump you are using in the engine build? Cheers

Cheers. It's a tomei oil pump but Racepace modify it a bit to get the right oil pressure for the build.

    • Bah! I can't see the point in custom number plates at all. I went to the rego office, fished through a box of "premium" plates (the ones that had the "not as tall" option for the front plate) and picked the one that had a 32 in it. That's the limit of the effort and cost I will put into number plates. The only plate that I'd consider paying for would be 2332, but that's not possible here because it already exists from probably 90 years ago, and it would cost a fortune to obtain it, if it were available.
    • After chasing my tail with LS results..... and cheaper than a turbo swap... How confident are you that the dyno is accurate relative to other results? How fast is the car - What MPH does it actually run? Is this similar to what people running this power would expect?
    • Hi mate I am having an identical issue with my 98 R34 GTT. The engie suddenly cuts out under load at about 3-4k, black smoke out exhaust. Almost feels like traction control kicking in. No CEL but still going to check codes later today. Car was sitting in the shed for about 5 months before hand and only idled a few times, took her out with about 1/4 tank, filled up and thats when the issues started happening.  Threw on a spare set of coils/harness and checked plugs which was no help. Recently had fuel pump/filter changed so surely thats not the issue unless condensation in fuel, I just havent had the time to drain it It's running a hi flow turbo, bosch 1000cc injectors, walbro 450L, Z32, Nistune etc... All about 2000km old.
    • I always wonder where the obsession with legal/illegal spacing on number plates in the UK comes from. Because it comes up in comments in every UK-based video I see on youtube. From my point of view all of your plates look a bit odd. Just because there are no markings whatsoever. In Australia we have the state that has to be on it. In Europe you get stamps and state logos. Yours look a bit like a throwaway draft that people then stuck with. And attached with blu tack so that it falls off at the slightest disturbance. Not trying to hate, but it's interesting how things are done in different countries. Do you have to follow a lettering convention when choosing a custom plate?
    • Hybrid sounds like a supercharger... It's half a turbo, with a belt to drive it! Oh wait, they're just called super chargers...
