Here's what I've done to the car since purchase...

Hdi FMIC, Transgo shift kit, Brembos from 60th Ann 350Z, custom 3" exhaust with Scotty's dump pipe, uprated sway bars from Selbys/Fulcrum, PWR transmission cooler, LED daytime/fog lamps, air horns above FMIC.

Still to do - bonnet strut kit (no garage and it's been raining constantly in the Mountains), EBC, possible info meter and double DIN DVD/CD + reversing camera + navigation. Considering a Scheel drivers seat I've had since 1988, big wrap around shoulders and still in good nick. It's migrated from car to car.

Some new wheels to replace the T7s.

Attached is a photo taken before the foggies and transmission cooler.

More photos to follow.

Anychance you can post a pic of the led day running lamps?

Been thinking about fitting some but can't find any that look good so far and where to fit them.

I'll get a shot of the lamps this weekend. It's raining again and I hate going outside in it. :ninja: Hopefully, if there's a break I'll sneak out and take a photo...

BTW, I bought the lamps on E-bay from a seller in Sydney. I studied so many of them, my head was spinning. I didn't like some of the chinese ones on offer. Got burnt a few times on

some purchases not being what they seemed.

Here's hoping there is no more rain for a while.

my DRLs are better :P

IMO i think they would look better next to the headlight unit, in a semi upright position.

what do they look like while on?

Pics of yours also then please ?

Lol don't worry Paul, he's talking about the DRLs on his stupid Vee Dub.

Nice job Russel, although don't think that'd work on mine as I've got the Aero kit. Not keen on hacking up the good mesh to fit them. Won't work as well as it does with your horizontal lines either.

Ah, so he's cheating! He had me going.

Yep. Wanted DRLs so bad he bought a Beetle with them preinstalled.

You've got the aero kit right? Where were you thinking of putting the lights?

Yeah I have the aero. Not sure where I would fit them. Ideally I'd like them under the headlight but I can't see that happening.

You'd have to use the LED strip lighting, and then you'd look like you're trying to rip off Audi.

LOL @ Iain - his car's not even a "proper" VW. :P

Oh, and in regards to factory-fitted LED DRLs, I have to say that I think Audi are amongst the very few manufacturers getting it looking right.

lol they are in denial, VW has owned AUDI and Skoda and SEAT for ages. they have all used VW engines for years too. Its the reason why i got a Skoda. I got a Golf GTi that is more practical, cheaper and had more options as standard. same trim on a golf would have gone over 50k.

I know they're all owned by the same company and use the same engine blah blah blah...

But I'm pretty damn sure the build quality on an Audi is better then a VW, or heaven forbids, your Skoda :nyaanyaa:

Reading the reliability survey don in the USA I am not so sure you are right about this.

VW rated 56th out of 60... :whistling:

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
