Finally got to post up some dyno charts. Not earth shattering (308 AWKW) but it feels fast to me. I have had some good days on various tracks but now looking forward to setting a 1/4 mile time. Trouble is Friday nights are drag days and I work at nights but hopefully I will get down there before too long. Progress has been slow - no time or money - but some new plugs and a better setting up of the wastegate and a touch up of the tune should net me a few more AWKW.

RB30 is great for the Stagea (mine is 1800kg with me in it) - pulls away from 1000 rpm in 5th comes on boost 2500 and full boost at 4000 (rev limited at 7000).

What I don't understand, is why didn't Nissan make the cars with this engine....with their weight they really benefit from a few extra ccs.

Good dyno result, particularly on 98 (it's getting rare over here to see a medium or high power build that is not running e85)

Imagine one with a non turbo rb20! Lol!

Downfall of having capacity based road tax systems. Big cars, silly little engines.

Great result; especially at all four!

It must have torque up the wazoo; sounds like a great thing to drive.

So, 12 months, 2 radiators, 4 turbos, 3crankshafts, 2 sets of pistons rings and bearings, 5 unsuccessful dyno runs many many $$ and a new set of coilovers later, it looks like I may have my car back on the road tomorrow... Fingers crossed!

Pics to follow once I've finally had a chance to get behind the wheel again: cannot wait to post that it runs perfectly and made good power!!

Excitement!

installed boost gauge, car runs 14.5 psi, was hoping it was running a little lower so I could have upped the boost. So i'll just go sort the rest of the exhaust and still aiming for hi 12's

wish I had smaller hands! today I tackled, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned afm, attesa fluid and replaced all the dead lamps in the climate control unit! and refitted the stereo so it sits flush with the climate control :)

couldnt face doing oil change today!

What power is the car making? I ran 12.3 at 270ish RWKW and a slipping clutch. Its all about getting these heavy things off the line.

Put the boost gauge in, only reads .4 bar boost (running 10psi so .7bar) and barely reading a vacuum (maybe -50 mmHg but should be at lease -250)

Anyone ever pulled one apart for repair?

So finally got my bars painted :worship: and refit them to the car, while the bars were off i plasti diped the grill and pulled apart the head lights and plasti diped the inner crome bits [ :domokun: obviously not the reflective bits]oh and also bought a new autech badge for the grill and had to make a bracket for it as it was STOLEN with the badge last time  and cant be boughtscottsstagea006_zps159c8845.jpg

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
