thats cause it was designed by the guy who designed the oldmobile V8 and we all know they were an awesome performance engine....... :glare::blink::rofl2:

Also why I suggested the Dart 9.2" block, has cleveland Mains sizes and deck height but the oil and cooling system is based on the Windsor

I guess we are too nice to chicks on here.

Ill be honest, a diff for 4k your getting fkn ripped and the whole this is just a stupid idea.

Oh, and pics or GTFO!!

Supercharge the RB30. Simple really. You'll make more torque down low than a worked Cleveland anyway. Rods, pistons and < 1 bar means you'll have something original, responsive and heaps of torque for burnouts!

Just make sure you run a big radiator, shroud and keep the stock engine fan plus electric ones. DONE! You can even use am RB25 gearbox and try keeping the stock diff with good oil, large capacity diff housing and cooling fins.

doing big skids is all about having a massive mid range and a top end to match...how many burn out cars do you see sitting on 2000rpm?

wait stop everything

did someone say ripping skids takes skill?

for my own enjoyment here is the history of this thread in brief

OP- haiguise, want to make skids car cos i has teh skillz, and want to spend the $, because skids requires expensive excessive work.

ZEBRA- haither, heres a perfect setup, no need to look any further + I saved you 25k

OP- haiguise, na im gonna do it my way cos i has teh skillz, what about a diff guise? cos teh diff is important and stuffff, im looking at one for 4k

SAU- haither, you dont need to spend 4k on a diff for burnouts (provides adequate information on other diffs)

OP- haither, na im gonna do it my way cos i has teh skillz, and I know I will be losing money, its inevitable

SAU- fine dont listen to us

OP- haither, we are entitled to our opinions aren’t we?! I want to do something different

BIRDS- how about a magna with a catback?

MAD082- *suicides*

TRIKDOUTVL- you’re a lesbian

OP- am not

Oh why couldn't you have posted that brilliant summary 4 pages ago. I'm never going to get back the 10 minutes I wasted reading this thread (although I did manage a chuckle or 2)

I think that the OP needs some trolling lessons. This is too lame. Even I've trolled better than this.

Alright, enough with the stupid suggestions, time for some practical advice.

OP, I present to you the RTA96C. It produces almost as much low down torque as a Clevo and is much cheaper/easier to service and maintain than a VG30. This conversion has not been done before, but I have spoken to my uncle and he reckons it's just a matter of shaving back the strut tops. Might have to push back the firewall. As for the diff, I have a factory VLSD at work which you can have for $2k. Recommend some Mickey Thompsons, but if you prefer Federal 595s I can probably source you a set ~$4k. It's good that money isn't an object for you, because from my quick Googling I couldn't find any half cuts at the wreckers, or the local wharf - maybe give Just Jap a call. Set of 290 degree camshafts and you'll show those boys at the nats what a real girl can do.

Don't forget to knife edge the crank, which will reduce both rotating mass and inertia.

this is awesome

chick with a r31

likes ripping skidz

now if she has some trampy tats on her cans i shal profess my love forever

ps picks of tramp tats would seal the deal

honestly, is this the worst thing i have ever seen evar? foot to floor = skids, how is it skill, why is she doing it, she isnt even trying to do anything in particular, her car just spins around randomly, a couple of times she spins quite harshly? is that skill? what do the audience look for? the white smoke? the amount of times she spins? do they say "aw shit sun, look at the car doing circles, mind BLOWN" all while tipping their caps to the sky and saying "bro" back and forth.

end rant

I think it's a good idea and I'm even happy to help. I reckon we can get it done a bit cheaper too. possibly as low as $38,000. let's get started, you send me the cash and I'll start on the project. it's going to be a winner. :)

This is the way im going to do it, i will always welcome suggestions and obviously places that might be able to do things cheaper. But with a certain few things i will go to those i trust.

Trust is one thing, being blatantly ripped off is another.

why do women come on here, ask for suggestions, ignore all suggestions because they want to do it their way, decide on somewhat silly ideas then proceed to quote ridiculous prices as if we will all be impressed?

Because although it's touted that men have ego competition drama's in this department, a chick will always be 10x worse.

Same as the 34 incident.

Anyway... $35k into a clevo is very much getting stung rotten. Nothing wrong with them in stock/mild form, and my old ZJ used to go around in circles for 45mins without even needing water in the radiator, but alas, that was a long time ago.

BUT... You could build a soild, blown LS1 for half that.

Weigh less, and have less overall drama's to boot.

Forget about a turbo as well. Heat is the enemy, and a turbo is just going to make more of it.

I am reading a book at the moment, it is a by some dude called Mario Puzo. If in 6 months time the OP (someone who didn't know what the "E" in RB30E stood for) manages to pull off this build and put a big block $40 000 engine into a R31 I will drive down to Wollongong, set myself up in Crown St Mall with a fold up camping table and some water and publicly consume all 595 pages.

lol without a doubt the post of the thread.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
